I'm bringing them to a potluck, so I don't know if there will be any mashies. However, I was told to be there at 6.

We had a speaker come to my high school today who talked some about being friends with Coach K.

As long as you avoid sweet potatoes vs. yams, I think we'll be okay with it. Start talking barbecue, and we might have to move this to the King Board.

To further add to the list of attractions that North Carolina has to offer, I suspect we'll have traffic jams next week to partake of this new State Fair addition:

    linky

Any interested parties? I'll bring the Crestor.

Will you be treating it as a house call?

Don't make house calls. Office visit or hospital rounds only. Especially the latter as the cath lab is only a 3-4 minute stretcher ride away.

For you lunch/deli officiandos, today for lunch, I'm going to Fairfax, VA's "Chutzpah Deli" - home of some really delicious corned beef. Best corned beef I've had outside of Manhattan, actually. Devildeac, I may need to call and set up an appointment, because I'm also thinking of indulging in their latkes. Fried potato yumminess!

Next True Blue Cue Crew BBQ contest

TBCC is heading to Shelby for the first weekend in November. If anyone is in the area and wants to stop by and taste some delicious 'cue, we'll pull up a chair for you. So far there are 47 teams signed up.

One of the first grills we cooked on. (Old and beat up, but we did well with it.)

Our new grill, which we've named "Blue Smoke". We placed 5th in a steak competition cooking on it earlier this year, and it has been successfully feeding the masses at our tailgates this season. Shelby will be its first KCBS cookoff.

Devildeac and I LOVE the pastrami from Chutzpah! I think it's actually better than Carnegie's

Okay, post-Chutzpah report. The corned beef was delicious, as usual, if a bit extra-crumbly. I went with the pumpernickel bread this time - a first for me at Chutzpah, where I normally stick with the excellent rye. The pumpernickel was a mistake. Too dry and too fragile.

The latkes, though were superb. No sweet potato latkes today, but the regulars were nice and crispy outside, warm and a bit spicy inside. Yum!

I haven't had the pastrami in a while, because I like the corned beef so much. Next time, I'll try the pastrami again and stick with the rye.

Whaddaya mean not the whole thing? That's coming from a guy who claims that he thought when he was growing up that a half gallon of Hershey's/Breyer's ice cream was a single serving!!!!!

The pastrami the purveyor of fine delicatessen meats the esteemed (?) Ozzie mentions above is indeed excellent, as is their corned beef. In smaller, non-atherogenic quantities, of course. Damn, I'm hungry now.

Quarts, not half gallons! And it was Schrafft's, not Breyer's nor Hershey's. Coffee Ice Cream. Always coffee.
