Fun! If Tupac taught us anything it's that California knows how to party.

There are a couple of spots where you could see both from the same vantage point! Where you going? The fires are mostly in the sierras but a few are up north, too.

Is the portion 1 near Big Sur still collapsed? I seem to recall a big section got taken down not along.

My parents have been giving me a hard time today about taking the train home yesterday through some areas that were hit really hard by the storm. I mean, yeah, maybe I shouldn't have gotten on the train, but I'm home safe, so what's the point of telling me I got lucky?

50s here in Durham this morning! Opened my back screen door to let the fresh air in, and listen to my neighbors chickens lay eggs.

Site of the Womble honeymoon. Is Deetjen's Big Sur Inn still up and running? Quite a place (years ago you had to pass visual muster to stay there), raccoons on the window sills...marvelous place, that Big Sur.

A big loud BA-COCK! Last weekend, one laid an egg and they all got excited. The hen party last quite a while. They are young hens, just born this spring, so the novelty of egg-laying hasn't worn off, yet.

Yep! Except they got rid of the rooster, so just eggs, no babies. Just breakfast for the humans.

Interesting. I knew chickens were social animals but didn’t know it extended to egg laying!

Prime Ribeyes. Given the size of my household and refrigerator space I can only get so much. And today's shopping trip was at Costco.

On that note, I believe an egg was just laid! I wish I could share a soundbite.
