Sadly, he missed his chance at immortality. He ended up playing 17 minutes, with 1 rebound, 2 turnovers, and 0-2 from the floor (including 0-1 from three point range).

Despite devoting about 5 minutes to this feature, none of the three panelists ever mentioned that two of Duke's players who are in the normal rotation were out with injuries -- an interesting omission, considering that ESPN's commentators have almost always attributed UNC's losses this season primarily to the absence of a couple of injured players.

Bumping this thread back to the top in preparation for a full day of ACC Hoops. The Pitt vs Carolina game will air on ESPN. Can Pitt hand Carolina their fourth straight loss?

Raleigh News and Observer fueling speculation this AM that Cole Anthony returns to play for the cheats again this season, possibly as early as today. I'd link it but it appears to be for subscribers only today.

I’m interested in the UVa game at GT. UVa has lost 3 straight and are on the road against a healthy GT team who has a couple good front court players to complement streaky guards who when hot, can light it up. UVa is +1 so Vegas thinks it’s basically a toss up. A 4th consecutive loss for UVa would be the first time in years for Tony Bennett’s program.

And BTW, word of warning, once you subscribe to the N and O, it's nearly impossible to un sub....I mean it's absurd.

I just LOVE how the ESPN on-air guys keep talking about Roy’s “least gifted” comments during their broadcasts. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

edit: no pun intended, but it works!

Yes do not do this. The right click and open in incognito tab is great. Thanks again to whom ever gave that advice on DBR.

To piggyback on Roy’s “least gifted” comments...

Was I the only one who noticed the difference in Coach K’s attitude during the Jay Bilas interview that aired during College Game Day?

I’m paraphrasing here, but when Bilas asked Coach K how he reacts after a loss (ie Clemson), he said it had changed in the last decade. He said previously, a loss was unacceptable. But in the last decade, he implied he isn’t as hard on them (presumably because many of them are so young). He said you can’t get to a point where the team thinks you don’t believe in them. Because once that happens, it’s really hard to recover.

It just struck me how opposite it was from the feeling Roy’s players must have had after his comments.

Another reason to love the GOAT!

Cool how there are no upsets of note to discuss in the “not going to jinx it” thread. Everything is according to expectations.

    I’d say better than expected.

I predict the Cheats will beat Pitt if the panthers are held scoreless in the second half.

I do like the gentleman's agreement we seem to have to ignore the Tar Heel game in the Upset Thread.
