Actually we have scored with the FL clearance. Pound bags of rice for 18 cents. diced chiles for 25 cents. A box of Keurig pods for $1.50 - good brand, too. I got one of those briquette chimney starters for about $4. I am a bargain hunter. I took a chance on a Poptart. I'll take the rest of them into work tomorrow and leave them in the breakroom. Someone will eat them.

Not in the clearance bin, and that was a LONG time ago. I refused to buy meat there for a very long time after that report. They have since made a lot of changes and actually have very good chicken now. Better than Harris Teeter.

Harris Teeter is now part of the Kroger behemoth. It’s been sliding ever since.

Exactly! And those My Harris Teeter commercials are making me nauseous. And they play them continuously in the store now instead of regular music. Makes me hate going into the store even more now.

I really enjoy grocery shopping. That is all. Easily my favorite chore.

You just like helping people to get stuff from the high shelves.

Me too! The grocery store has such possibility embedded throughout.
I never do the big "weekly shopping trip"; instead, I usually go 3-4 times a week to get this and that. I love it.

Me too and I love it! I get about 2 or 3 meals worth at a time. Also I hit Lowes Foods (big NC chain) for meat and Trader Joes for veggies frequently. And I think you are this way, recipes are a general guideline and I may see something that I may think will pep up a particular meal I am cooking when I go.

Congrats, MD! I know you've been making various efforts along these lines recently; glad they've come to fruition.

    Which refuge in Florida?
If you're not all the way down south in the Everglades, there's a good chance they were actually roseate spoonbills, which are even more spectacular than flamingos.
