Chances are he/she already has a favorite beer. 😁😂

Will be with SonPK in Prague this summer after he turns 16, which is the legal age there. So I知 guessing a Pilsner for him.

Anticipated this response. In this particular circumstance, there痴 a high degree of confidence this particular rule follower hasn稚 taken a traditional path of underage experimentation.

There are worse options than to have Pilsner Urquell as a first beer. 🍻

    This is a good suggestion.

Yup. Pretty sure my first was a Schlitz.

Very pleased to have seen this on tap in the Sandhills. Nice and dark. Malty and chocolatey, but a definite lager profile. Been a long time, and I had forgotten how much I like this beer. Clears Cat 3 hurdle.

    Reading is fundamental.
The key difference (aside from bottled stout and canned porter) is the porter has no milk sugar.

Apparently Hardywood is willing to take some liberties on imperial stout and porter definitions.

I cannot discern a difference in the nose.

    Porter up first.
Thin bodied, and spicy. Cinnamon and ginger dominate.

    First sip of GBS.
Heavier bodied, better mouthfeel, and more layered /integrated spice flavour.

The porter is a bit harsher.
In a vacuum I expect it would be super pleasing.
Suffers in comparison to the stout.

This is a ton of fun, comparing two beers separated by a single ingredient.

Well worth if you have both, tasting them side by side.
    🍻
Hmm, might have to have a similar tasting.

I'm game too. Seriously. We have discussed a Virtual Pub from the Veil. I've never been. How about March? I could do any weekend except March 7.

The Veil sounds like a perfect way to welcome in spring.

NEBCO's Fuzzy Baby Ducks is harder to find, and I was very happy when my friend poured one for me at last night's get together. I have some very nice friends. The beer is brewed with 100% citra hops, and the look and flavor is what you would expect: cloudy with a nice fluffy head, orange but not too orange, just the right amount of bitterness. A very good example of the NE IPA style. It is 6.2% ABV so not too strong either.

But I just love the fact that the beer's name is Fuzzy Baby Ducks--it cracks me up every time! And the label is awesome. A unicorn farting a rainbow with a duckling riding down with a beer-crazed look on its face and hearts floating all around. If you are around the New Haven area and they have Fuzzy Baby Ducks available, pick some up just for the little giggle. And the beer is good too.

Good gracious, that is funny stuff. Don't let the kiddies see that silliness.

    Sam Adams Boston Lager
Red Oak Amber Lager or Helles
Any German wheat beer, light or dunkel
    Stella Artois, canned, not bottled
    Pilsner Urquell, draft, not bottled

Not all in the same sitting, of course .

This is also a great suggestion. Why not start on the "top shelf?"

There's a reasonable chance you *might* find something palatable there.

Glad that beer flight you had yesterday has "cleared" the system and you're capable of texting/posting in complete, coherent sentences again.

Fuse when is the big day? We could also do April if that works better. Still spring.

From this list I definitely agree with Red Oak Amber Lager which I think is better than Helles. The Red Oak should be pleasant on an unconditioned palate because it has a subtle honey flavor that isn't cloying.

The other beers are also great, I'd just give Red Oak #1 but I'm biased.

    What is the setting?

If it is at home, I'd suggest a variety pack from one of the big craft brewers (Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, Oskar Blues).

It would be nice to start with some variety
