ESPN Summer League coverage needs more interviews. I think they can eventually work their way down to interviewing the yellow shirt security guys if they keep at it.
that was what worried me, and what made me think he wasn't ready for NBA ball yet, although he is certainly capable of handling the G-league competently.
i don't think too many teams would be too too concerned with an occasional 0-fer, but 2:5 a:t ain't gonna get many looks. 0-8 0-3 1-2 certainly seems to confirm the "he can't shoot narrative".

I'll see your Harry Giles dunk and raise you Jabari Bird.
After that dunk, I started to shop around for a Jabari Bird Celtics jersey, but the only ones I could find had the wrong number.

#33? Dude, he wears #26.
Watching Wendell play against Mykhailuk and Newman ... sigh, too soon.
Oh what might have been if Carter had been able to stay on the floor in overtime.
Coach K said that Carter has one of the highest basketball IQ's of any player that he has coached. This really is evident in summer league, more so than it was during last season. He improved quite a bit in terms of his defensive positioning while at Duke. I remember him being caught in no man's land on more than occasion before we switched to a zone. It's apparent that he has a steep learning curve because these defensive extincts didn't advance over night; his in season improvement was likely masked due to our need to play zone. He is showing a real knack for proper timing and spacing. There's not much to criticize in terms of on court performance but I'd like to see him rebound a bit more aggressively and setup a stronger position to receive post entry passes. That said, he is probably the top rookie in summer league play thus far.

I appreciate your feedback. I like that this board tries to be less negative and a little more sophisticated than other boards. I have nothing against Trae Young and I enjoy watching him play, but the narrative was there to be crafted so I took the opportunity in that case. I will endeavor to keep things light-hearted in the future and not try to cross the line into outright mean-spiritedness.
Update on Marvin:
Marc J. Spears @MarcJSpearsESPN
The Kings say an MRI conducted this morning on forward Marvin Bagley III revealed a pelvic bone bruise. The No. 2 pick of the 2018 NBA Draft will miss the rest of summer league while resting for approximately 1-2 weeks.

CBS Sports says the same thing, but then unnecessarily expands for two more paragraphs here.
Journalism. While Summer League is a great chance for teams to get a look at their rookies and potential training camp invites, the actual results of the games have little meaning, and teams aren't going to risk making an injury worse. This would be the correct decision regardless of the player, but it's especially smart for the Kings to be cautious with the No. 2 overall pick.
If there is a bright side to this, it's that Sacramento already played a few Summer League games before the injury happened and got a chance to see Bagley in action. The Kings will have the entire summer to break down his game and figure out how to best implement it into next season. For now, their top priority should be keeping their prized rookie healthy.

Watched two quarters of the Jazz game yesterday. Grayson was apparently playing through a minor injury.
His game looked solid. Engaged on defense and rebounded well. Made some great passes. Moved off the ball well. Still struggling when shooting off the dribble and against traffic in the lane like he did at Duke. I'm sure it'll improve since he's only a rookie and this is summer league, but that's his biggest knock right now.
It's hard to overstate how well Carter has been playing so far in summer league. Averaging 16, 7.3, and 3.7 blocks per game, shooting 57% from the field, 50% from 3, and 79% from the FT line. His stat line is somewhat masked by the fact that he's playing alongside an unabashed gunner in Antonio Blakeney (who is averaging nearly a FGA per minute) and some really bad guards, which keeps him from getting more and better looks. But he's looked great in every facet of the game. Even in perimeter defense, which was a nightmare for him last year.
The SummerBulls took a tough L to the Hawks, as Trae Young was spectacular from 3. Young hit 7 of 13 from 3, and most were REALLY long because the Bulls were overplaying him anywhere near the line.
I like these quotes from Trevon, he seems pretty media savvy in that he pivoted from a "Duke didn't feature me" angle to one that was more positive about the opportunity Duke afforded him.

Even in summer league, with its 10-minute quarters, the Rockets play at a fast pace, scoring 92 points in the opening game. Duval took advantage of the up-tempo game, something relatively uncommon at Duke.
"Breaking free of the cohesive Duke offense, Duval showed NBA-level ability.
Without last season' teammates -- no Marvin Bagley lll or Wendell Carter to force a deliberate pace, no other ball-handlers such as Gary Trent Jr. and Grayson Allen -- Duval unleashed his real identity.
“I think it helped me a little bit,” Duval said. “I always like playing fast in transition. So, this pace is for me.”
With Duval playing in an offense he prefers, he was also able to showcase his improvement -- capitalizing on success he found in his lone season with the Blue Devils. He took pride in getting everyone involved, collecting 5.6 assists per game in college, and lists that as his top skill.
“I would say my playmaking ability since I played on a team with four other NBA players,” Duval said. “So, I think I’ve learned to create for really good players and also play with other really good players.”
A bunch of us are higher on Carter than Bagley (and that isn't to say we aren't high on Bagley).
Carter is so smart, so calculated, so strong. I absolutely love his game.
With all of our guys playing so well in Summer League, I'm still surprised we didn't slaughter ever team in our path.
Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things. - Winston Churchill
