Here's my "vision" and what I will tell the actors at the read through, "I view 12th Night as a play about self deception. Everyone in the play is pretending to be something they are not. Your homework is to decide how your character is pretending to be something they are not. You don't have to tell me what you decide, but I want you to think about it, make the choice, and incorporate that choice as you build your character."
