In case anyone is interested, the new lemon pie Pop Tarts are a hard pass. No flavor whatsoever. I was very disappointed.

Brisket queso for appetizer this afternoon. Will probably sous vide a steak for dinner. And then as MD suggested, Alton Brown it tomorrow.

Hot Oven Grinders on the docket for tonight. Are these a known commodity outside the NY/Philly area?

I'd be a little. They can do wonders with artificial flavorings these days.

Foster’s Market in Durham served a good Italian grinder when I was there.

Brisket queso calls for 4 Oz. of beer. I have none in the house and the cheapest option was to buy a single(25 oz.) at the convenience store. So, what do I do with the rest?

An extra 21 ounces of cheap beer is like winning a dollar on a scratch-off lottery ticket.

I do believe that this post caused the following to show up in my news feed in Firefox.

"As the movie The Godfather collected awards and became sacred cinema, the sandwich the Godfather became a mainstay at delis all across the country. Whether you call it a hoagie, a sub, a hero, or something else, everyone agrees that the former gave the latter its name. What no one can agree on is what actually constitutes one."

I especially liked the nomenclature in a small area around Norristown, Pa...hogies/subs were called zeps, as in zeppelins.

Specifically I was referring to the way pizza places would make you a nice hoagie/sub/whatever with a bunch of cheese, then slip it in the pizza sven...nice and browned, dripping cheese, = "hot oven grinder."

I have to go back to work today. Two weeks of parental leave just isn’t a lot.

Oh well, at least I’m still working from home and can help during slow points.

Just wondering, did the "cold oven" grinder not meet with much success?
