Wait, if we are 11-7 and Clemson is 10-6, do we get the #4 seed because we beat them head-to-head?
I suspect it is by win percentage, which would put us behind Clemson.

    6/7 are in the 2/3 half-bracket. 4/5 are in 1 half-bracket.

Clemson was very good in November, December, and February. January -- not so much

It probably doesn’t matter much either way since I’m not sure UVA would win 2 games against tourney teams the way they are playing but I think there’s a pretty decent gap between 1s and 2/3s. Being a 6/7 avoids the 1s for as long as possible.

Best I can tell, I agree. I haven't watched a ton of outside ACC games, but Gonzaga, Baylor, Michigan seem a tier above everyone else.

The ACC bracket simulator* suggests this is right, as it has a 10-6 Clemson seeded ahead of an 11-7 Duke.

Here's a look at NCAA-T success by seed. The anomalies are the Sweet Sixteen attainment for seeds 10-12 vs. the lack of success for seed 8 and 9. (Hint: A lot of #1 seeds are wa-a-a-y out in the tail of the distribution -- as in, amazingly good.)
    Code:

It really looked like next year would be a great one for Capel. Toney and Xavier Johnson were both going to be seniors and Champagnie was going to be a junior. Now the two seniors are transferring and I would not be surprised to hear Champangie is entering the draft (his best teammates are all leaving, why stick around?).

I would have made Pitt a trendy team to crack the top tier of the conference next year... now, it looks like they are in for a longer rebuild. Unless I missed it, I don't think Capel has a single recruit yet for the class of 2021. The book on him at Duke was a stud recruiter. He has not lived up to that thus far at Pitt.

Look like Duke allowed the Marquette team to use Cameron as a practice facility while they were in town. One of the many perks of the brotherhood.

Carolina could get a huge break today in their game with FSU --

MJ Walker, FSU's leading scorer and best player, is doubtful for the game tonight. 6-9 Forward Malik Osbourn and 7-1 C Tanor Ngom are also not expected to play. They both would have been useful players against the big Carolina front line.

FSU is really, really deep -- generally playing 9+ players significant minutes in every game -- but if these guys do not play, it will really sting.

Yahoo has Carolina favored by 1.5. I came here to find out why, and here it is.

    Watching the Carolina-FSU game:

The bad news is you can definitely hear that there are fans at the game in Chapel Hill.

The good news is that it doesn’t seem to be making a difference.

Is there a reason the FSU-Cheats game just went to halftime? Seems it’s going to run well past 6pm, our start time.

Also, so far, it appears the Cheats look good. (Just tuned in for a few seconds before half.)

I apologize. I know I should not have posted that. The Cheats are really looking terrible right now.

Ugh. FSU completely melted down. 17-3 second half. Come on ‘Noles. Get it together.
