Just after the downpours stopped this morning, it was 30 when I started walking my dog. By the time I got back (after about a mile), the sun was out and the temp was down to 23 with a windchill of about 10.

Rain changed to snow and it’s dropping fast here, too

Skies have cleared, but the wind chill is negative double digits here.

pretty much the whole state of Vermont is about to become a wad of black ice. Only the stupid will travel. Temp is around 50 now, snow is melting, but temps will be below freezing by late this afternoon and the wind will buff the ice nicely...overnight lows around 10. State gummint telling people not to go out after 4pm but peeps is peeps, of course they'll go out.

I guess I shouldn’t get too smug until the remaining 2 of my 4 children make it to Phoenix from the east coast. One due today from NYC, the other tomorrow from Boston.

I just got in from a trip to the store. I’m in Amish country. It’s in the teens (cold, not like Epstein) and windy and these dudes were still out in their topless horse buggies.

shoe fly pie makes one impervious to cold, I'm quite certain this is true. Strangely enough (and this IS true) some Amish have started moving up our way to find cheaper land, I guess the cold isn't a huge issue.

We lost power for 2 1/2 hours - wind blew a big branch into a power line. The temperature is dropping. But. It's only supposed to be a low in the teens. No snow. Rain stopped long enough ago that black ice won't be as big of an issue around here either. High in the 20s tomorrow and Christmas Day.
