I think I have a Nyquil hangover.
four American degrees this morning, but sunny. Now I must snow rake the snow off the skylights. Pressure.
One neighbor had a skylight shattered by a branch. Several others have had to deal with leaks, both in the skylight itself and in the flashing around.
Our town is under a thick canopy; it's a usual thing for the trees to drop dead branches. Most do nothing to the roof itself, though we did have to repair a 1 1/2" hole where a branch speared us last spring - second time in 25 years.
I don't have any skylights, though our architect wanted to add them when we put our second floor on. He also wanted several gables, in the mccraftsman style. I went with a plain roof - simple gable, no cross gables or dormers or such, so no valleys to catch tree gunk. Given how juicy storms are getting, I didn't want complications. Instead of skylights, we have tons of regular windows.
