A statue would be cool. I'm thinking of having one made myself. Though it may harm the re-sale value of my house after I croak.

I like the name the way it is - Cameron Indoor Stadium. Coach K courts honors him. There is no need to do it twice.

I love the idea of a statue. I hate the idea of renaming CIS.

Thinking a net cutting pose would be appropriate.

Alabama has a Nick Saban statue

Coach K should have one at Duke as well.

Maybe we should make the statue as tall as Cameron?

How about a statue tall enough to be seen from Chapel Hill?

The three statues near the athletic facilities of Wallace Wade, Bill Murray and Eddie Cameron were all done by the same Duke alumnus, Frank Creech, Class of 1964, who passed away too soon. Frank was a football player for Bill Murray and, IIRC, one of six art majors in the entire class. That's an interesting story, but there's more...

The statue of Bill Murray was commissioned by the University of Delaware, where Murray had been a very successful coach before returning to Duke (49-16-2). The Duke trophy is a second casting based on the original. Here's his bio from the Creative Roundup we put together for the 50th reunion:

    Frank Creech (1941-2006)
Frank is best known for his sculptures of Wallace Wade, Eddie Cameron and Bill Murray. Frank returned to his hometown of Smithfield, NC to chair the art departments of Gaston College and of Johnston Comm. Coll. N.C. Governor Mike Easley awarded Frank the Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 2005. His paintings and ceramics, as well as his sculptures, are in private collections throughout the Southeast. Kay Creech provided the slides for the Roundup.

'When I got on the bus for my first road game at Duke, I saw that every player was carrying textbooks or laptops. I coached in the SEC for 25 years, and I had never seen that before, not even once.' - David Cutcliffe to Duke alumni in Washington, DC, June 2013

Agree with the consensus. No change of name. It takes a long time to build a name that resonates. There is no good reason to change it (until we find out that Eddie Cameron did things that people nowadays disapprove of - then the name will change).

If there is a name change, will alums name their kids Krzyzewski instead of Cameron?

Perhaps we can change the spelling to Kameron. Unofficially, of course.

Front page idea is no good. Especially the way they think this is something that could be done by riling up the fans.
