Barrel Chest is a very good bottle shop. But Stella is the krzyt.

Not sure when it's released each year, nor do I know how many years they've brewed it.

    Classic? You betcha!!

"Our bold and complex maibock-style ale that has been introducing countless beer drinkers to craft beer the world for over 25 years. Chock full of rich caramel malts and herbal hop nuances tied together with a balanced hop bitterness, this guy is still as drinkable as ever."

    Dead Guy Ale-Rogue Ales

    3000 miles from local

    Credit-classic craft theme
    Style-Maibock
Holding vessel-pint can cuz it was only 50 cents more than the 12 ounce can
    Drinking vessel-DFH nonic pint
Appearance-slightly hazy light amber with a moderate frothy topping
    Nose-toasted wheat bread
    Mouthfeel-soft
Tastes-light caramel, toasted cereal, slight earthy and hoppy bitterness, hint of chocolate and cherry
IBU-40, a bit high for a bock but still in the lager range
    ABV-6.8%
Overall impression-very good for the style and better than I remember but I'd guess it's been 20 years since I had one
Ymm, Beer rating-high cat 2; certainly worth the <$3/can if you've never tried it

Considering Hardywood has had Trickery, Ruse and Foolery, they really should name one of their beers legerdemain.

Yep, Ardent’s Dark Rye in a 16oz. can I believe.

German Chocolate Coffee Cake Foolery, 13.2%ABV - 12 month aged Foolery in A. Smith Bowman's Bourbon barrels unified with all the elements of a slice of German Chocolate Cake and a hot cup of coffee.

I didn’t even have this one but DD did, and he wanted seconds. Good enough for my top 100.

    Another family tree special -

Cousin Cru, 12.7%ABV - A barrel blend of Basil Hayden barrel aged long boil Barleywine and Basil Hayden barrel aged Bourbon Cru.

Anything with Cru in it has to be excellent. I bought a 2nd of these in the warehouse sale.

My favorite family tree offering -

Great Uncle Cru, 12.1%ABV - Great Uncle Cru was the last batch of Bourbon Cru brewed at our Ownby location and has been aging in Four Roses bourbon barrels for 2 years.

I bought two more of these at the warehouse sale. My heart? liver? skipped a beat when I picked up my box and they said they needed to check because they over sold Great Uncle and most didn’t get it. I got mine

Of course now that I have Straight Talk aged 4 years a side-by-side may be in order. Spectacular.

    Back to GBS -

Christmas Pancakes 16 oz Cans (2) in the set.
Imperial milk stout with spices, honey, and maple syrup. It really does taste like pancakes and syrup, in a good way.

Fluffy GBS 16 oz Cans (2) in the set.
Imperial milk stout with spices, honey, and toasted marshmallow.
Like drinking at a campfire with smores. Bought an extra 4-pack it was so good.

    Christmas Island 750ml Bottle

Gingerbread Stout aged in Caribbean rum barrels with toasted coconut. This will warm your core and bring you to a tropical paradise.
Was able to trade with son-in-law for his and get a 2nd. Rum and gingerbread, almost as good as bourbon and gingerbread.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Caliente GBS 750ml Bottle (1), New! Complete Set Exclusive!

Long awaited from year's past, Bourbon Barrel Aged Caliente GBS is aged on ancho chiles and extra cinnamon for a deliciously spiced drinking experience.

Best pepper beer ever for me. Bourbon, cinnamon, a hint of heat on the finish.

GBS Caliente- from last years set. No barrel aging but still excellent. They made a lot and son and I split a case of 12.

2020 GBS Barrel Blend 750ml Bottle (1), New! Complete Set Exclusive!
An exquisite blend of our finest ales, aged over a year in Bourbon Barrels.

This was my favorite of this years set. Even better on draft.
