Jade Williams got into Fuqua for her MBA and will be returning for a fifth year with Duke women's basketball!
Mikayla Boykin is transferring to UNC.
Charlotte.
Vanessa DeJesus from Sierra Canyon HS Chatsworth Cassius Stanley Bronnie James
Miela Goodchild Queensland Australia
Onome Akinbode James from Nigeria
Jade Williams The Colony Texas
Jiselle Havas Windermere FLA Lafayette transfer
Not certain if that is it or someone else transferred.
Duke needs 9 or 10 new players.
I wonder how much the transfer rules will affect recruiting, other than roughly doubling the coaches' "recruiting" work. Will high schoolers commit earlier to save their place at a school?
Example: Duke is on the short list for the #6 2022 high schooler, a point guard. This week, last year's #6 recruit who is a point guard entered the portal from Rutgers. She scored over 17 ppg and shot over 45% from three, so she's proven she can excel at the college level.
I have no idea if Duke has a chance at the Rutgers player, but if they got her it would severely reduce the need for the high schooler (though I'm sure they would still take her, but could concentrate their efforts on other positions because Vanessa De Jesus looks like a keeper).
So does the high schooler feel pressure to commit as soon as possible so Duke (or whichever school if she has a strong preference early) doesn't pursue the Rutgers player as hard?
UConn might be interesting next year. Can 2 ball-dominant guards co-exist, or will one want to transfer after a year with the new rules. Sure, UConn always has tons of talent but it's usually spread around a bit. Not 2 extreme talents at one position.
A new addition to next year's roster. Grad transfer Lexi Gordon from Texas Tech. 6'0 wing guard.
