That's great news for Nate! One of the all-time faves, and I'm glad he's getting an opportunity. Maybe he can add a couple of grad transfers from Duke to help him start his program!

Does anyone have a copy of the picture of Nate after the 2001 NCAA Championship sitting alone in the locker room with the championship net hanging around his neck?

    Congrats Nate!

Hope you succeed at Austin Peay! Thanks for all the big man training!

While a lot of people remember the "The Fly is open. Let's go Peay" chant, we should also note that Fly Williams was recruited to Austin Peay by an assistant coach by the name of Leonard Hamilton.

I hope that Nate will be as successful and have as long a career as Leonard.

I have an old, low-res printed copy. I'd also love to get ahold of a better, digital version...

Yes, that's the one. Hopefully someone will post a digital high res version.

Nate is a stalwart on my First Team Favorite Duke Ballers, along with Grant Hill, Elton Brand, Nolan Smith and Quinn Cook. My guess is that team would vote Nate and Quinn co-captains.

Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

Without a doubt, one of the most beloved Blue Devils of all-time! If the Govs adopt the persona of their coach, they are going to be something else!

Ideal spot for Goldwire. Wonderful opportunity for one of the baddest men to ever play for the GOAT. My family will be rooting hard and feverishly for him to do his thing in Tennessee.

Just did some quick research. Austin Peay was 14-13 this year. They had a star player named Terry Taylor who averaged 21.6 pts and 11.1 rebounds per game despite being only 6-5. He is a senior who was conference player of the year last year so I'm guessing Nate's first job is to try to get him to stick around for another year. In 2019-2020 they were 21-12 and the year before that they were 22-11 so this program has a history of some success.

Austin Peay has a pretty good Twitter thread about hiring head coach Nate James, with photos of the family and quotes from Coach K, Shane Battier, and Kevin White.

Shane on Nate: He's a fox hole guy. That's a very good description of Nate. Gonna miss him but who knows what might be in the future.

Correction: Third best chant behind Norfolk State, and Benedict College.

Now that’s intriguing. I had forgotten that. I knew Nate was the big guy coach and was wondering what’s going to happen with the bigs, including recruiting, now that he’s gone. Bringing back Wojo would certainly fill that need
