Agreed and agreed. Another Belgian world classic Trappist ale.

This was one of the first ones Incendiary released when I still thought they were hit or miss. I got it to support local and Stella. When I tasted how good it was I went back and got several bottles to trade with everybody in nearby zip codes
Beyond delicious. Devildeac family members concurred.

    Bitter Valentine-Alewerks Brewing Company

    Some might claim local.

Credit-a trader from RJ199 last month; thanks!
    Style-DIPA
    Format-an aluminum tree wasting can
    Glass-large wine glass
Appearance-hazy, tannish orange bronzish; moderate foaminess
    Nose-grapefruit and pine
    Mouthfeel-pithy and rindy
Tastes-pine, resin grapefruit juice and rind; hint of caramel
    IBU-65 (I'd have guessed 80 or more)
    ABV-8.3%
    Hops-Pacific Northwest; not surprising
Overall impression-if you like a throwback west coast style DIPA, this'll be in your lane
Ymm, Beer rating-I didn't that much ^^^^ and give it a #2; not bad but wouldn't revisit; I've had better beers from Alewerks

I've had quite a number of GBS variants and *think* I recall this as being excellent, however, it could still be in my 2020 GBS Complete Set that remains unpoured except for the 6 duplicate pint cans I gifted to family at Christmas.

Amusedcupcake's husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a 4 pack of this fresh soon after he moved to the 336. Good to know he can still drink plenty of Asheville's finest in the 336.
Burial is another brewery with soooooo many great beers that rarely repeat. This one does not ring a bell.

I'm so thankful to fuse for parting with a bottle of this unicorn. Worth every penny to try. Incredible complexity. Thick motor oil feel yet smoothly drinkable. Shared with amusedcupcake's husband on a great, celebratory evening
Still waiting for the *right* time to share this one as I will NOT drink it by myself, even if I divided it over 2-3 nights.

Such a great representation of what Hardywood can do - full mouthfeel. Chocolate covered cherries, warm caramel, molasses, and luscious goodness from start to finish.
We have indeed seen some Trickery here before.

Satan's Pony was my favorite beer while living in Charlottesville for a 2 year fellowship. So smooth, and this version is twice as good as the original. That delivery from Nrrrrvous didn't last long in the fridge
A new variant to an older beer and a great upgrade.

Have they ever barrel-aged that one? I know they chardonnay barrel-aged their Peach Tripel and called it Cuvee Peach.
