Appearance-mildly cloudy, light amber; moderate fizzy and foamy head that enjoyed hanging around for a while
Nose-typical quad scents of dark, dried fruits and dark caramel
Mouthfeel-smooth
Tastes-raisins, dates, figs, plums, cherries, a spice (maybe two) I can't discern and dark caramel
Adjuncts-??
IBU-can't be more than 30
ABV-10%; so easy sipping
Overall impression-a bit thinner and less flavorful than the Rochefort 10 but still excellent
Ymm, Beer rating-middle tier cat 3; not cheap but worth those couple extra $$

Ooh, I found another "imported beer"

"Veil Orange Miata

Rich head, hazy straw gold pour.

Smells like fresh squeezed orange juice.

Tastes like hoppy orange juice.

Super orange fruit bursting on the tongue finishes dry, orange pith and pine bitter.

Another outstanding beer from Veil.
Labeling it an IPA doesn’t do it justice.

Thin lacy head atop a clear copper hue.

Zesty ginger nose.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

Calling this a “ginger beer” doesn’t do it justice.
Amazing ginger flavour.

Wouldn’t turn down either, the first sip reinforces my memory that the non-BBA Honey Ginger is better than the BBA.
This is a rare opinion for me.

I could drink this all day, every day."

A big, bold, roasty stout brewed with generous amounts of English crystal malt, chocolate malt and roasted wheat and barley. It is hopped yet balanced with malt sweetness and a full-bodied mouthfeel. Aging in Kentucky Bourbon barrels followed by thoughtful blending creates a silky smoothness with notes of wood, whiskey and vanilla.

A tad sweet, a little thinner and less barrel than I anticipated, but enjoyable none-the-less.

Not a beer to argue about. Easy drinking? Yes! Sessionable? You bet. Malt forward with balanced bitterness, this is a beer designed for whiling away an afternoon with friends.

Low ABV, which I guess is why the description says sessionable. I enjoy trying locally made milds because I don't find them that often and they make me feel like I'm sitting in a dimly-lit pub somewhere in the outskirts of London. This particular beer was served cold and I think milds benefit from warmer temperatures. This one was fine. Likely wouldn't order again.

It was interesting reading labels this week of two Trappist ales that I've enjoyed, both being imported by Merchant du Vin (?sp) based in Seattle. Which, of course, prompts me to remind you of our monthly Virtual Pub taking place this Saturday with a Trappist beer theme. If you chat/Zoom with us, you might even see/chat with, nah, never mind, don't want to spoil it...
