    Carl Reiner 1922-2020

We lost a giant today. Carl Reiner was one of the legends of the comedy world, a prolific actor, director, and writer. He remained active and involved well into his 90s. If you have not seen the HBO documentary in which he was a main character, "If You're Not In the Obit, Eat Breakfast" then you are really missing something.

Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

An incredible body of work. His films with Steve Martin are particular favorites of mine.

Wow. Saw an interview with him on CBS Sunday Morning not long ago - during COVID-19. He and Mel Brooks were bantering back and forth over the internet. Funny guy. Big loss.

Interesting to read (NY Times) he was starting a career in repairing sewing machines when his brother made him aware of a WPA (Depression era) acting class...

    Sew what?

This is very sad news, a loss of happiness and humor for humanity. He will be missed.

Sad news. Such a funny man. 98 years of a life well lived. Someone that can make you laugh always holds a special place in your heart and Carl Reiner made me laugh too many times to count.

We need to keep a close eye on Mel Brooks, Bob Newhart and Norman Lear.

Sad to hear. I was a fan of Carl Reiner both on-screen and off-screen.

I watched one of his creations last night, The Dick Van Dyke show episode with the cheap feather pillows. Wonderful comedy tv.

And Spinal Tap. And When Harry Met Sally. And Misery, Stand By Me, and A Few Good Men.

Hadn’t realized Carl did The Jerk. It’s these cans! He hates these cans!

Carl Reiner was a brilliant man, having been an actor, screenwriter, director, and comedian. His early works on the Sid Caesar show and the Dick Van Dyke show are some shows I watched in my younger days. Prayers for his family.

    R.I.P.

Director of one of my favorites, All Of Me, with some of Steve Martin's best physical comedy.

All Of Me is a criminally underrated movie. I highly recommend it!

This is the exact scene I thought of when the film was mentioned. I often cite: "Edwina back in bowl," to blank stares.
