Reflecting fondly on last Saturday’s zoom virtual pub.
Really enjoyed live conversation over a beverage with you fine folks.
Cheers! 🍻
Maybe next month's host would be agreeable to another hour long Zoom session...
Speaking of May's host, I'll send Gooch a PM and thank him for his hosting, his excellent beverage choice and remind him he has the honor (duty? calling? obligation?) to volunteer, err, nominate the next fine "gentleman" (cough, OPK, cough) or wonderful lady (weezie could be the first...) to be our beertender for a Saturday in May.

Given that weezie is just a finer individual that I am, and given that I generally prefer liquor and wine to beer, I would defer to the lovely and talented weezie.
I would choose either IPAs, Lambics, or Belgians. But would prefer Irish Single Pot whiskeys or Paso Robles reds.
You're most welcome. I share your sentiments about Fullsteam; I don't think I've ever had a bad beer of theirs, most have been good to very good and a few have been outstanding. The addition of the kitchen has only added to their attractiveness as a meeting/drinking place and their mission/s and performance, for lack of a better word, during COVID earns them even more respect.

Davec covered (smothered?) IPAs in March, IIRC, and fuse started the event last year with NEIPAs, but lambics and/or true Belgian products would make great choices. If weezie is reading, I know she's bold enough to chime in () and if she doesn't, I'll whisper in her ear on Mt. Hatemore in the near future...

Heist made last PM. From their beer list:
Blaze and Dash-"This hazy double IPA was brewed with Citra and Rakau, then double dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Citra."
Looking forward to my pint tonight...

On deck, even though no baseball is being played:
It's Always Stout Season Stout-Heist Brewery
"We brewed a stout, then finished it on cinnamon, cacao nibs, a bit of graham crackers, and a pinch of maple syrup. Drink anytime, because, well, ya know."
Full report tonight.

I've been slammed at work since the shutdown (working for a utility is a blessing and a curse) so I'm bummed I missed the virtual virtual pub! I'll definitely carve out some time for the next one; I'm slowly losing my mind but my Zoom/WebEx game is strong after a month of costuming up for teleconferences...
Haw River Newlin’s Original Oatmeal Pale Ale
Special Variant Aged in Oak Barrels with Brett
Orange Gold in colour.
Nose is really acrid vinegar.
Smooth, great mouthfeel.
This is a brilliant beer.
A gentle hop bitterness transitions into a smooth sour kissed with a hint of sweetness ahead of closing with a dry oak finish.
This is right up there with Mystery Batch #1, New Belgium Le Terroir, and some of the subtle Brewery Bhavana sours.
Can’t recommend more highly seeking this beer out if you like sours.
Speaking of sours:
Coconut Lime Sour-Brueprint Brewing Company
More local for some of us than others, but still darn close
Credit-on shelf; eyes open; Visa active; 15% off; heck yea!
Format-12 ounce can
Style-flavored sour
Stemware-Ommegang tulip
Appearance-blended lemon/limeade; fizzy head
Nose-you put the lime in the coconut...
Mouthfeel-mild pucker
Tastes-key lime pie and coconut cream pie mashup with more tart than sweet; splash of lemonade
Adjuncts-coconuts and limes in some form were harmed before being added to their base sour beer
IBU-likely about 10
ABV-4.5%
Overall impression-very refreshing; a sweet/sour post dinner beverage/sipper/dessert
Ymm, Beer rating-barely crosses into cat 3 territory; I really liked this combination and execution
