Ten Fidy Barrel Aged-Oskar Blues Brewery

    Might be somewhat local

    Credit-my keen powers of observation
Format-12 ounce aluminum prisons @$20/4 pack, new for this year; used to be about $13-14 for a stovepipe
    Style-BBA imperial stout
    Glassware-snifter!!!!
Appearance-almost onyx; moderate tan, foamy head after an aggressive pour
    Nose-dark chocolate and booze
Mouthfeel-10W50 (not that I've ever sipped motor oil before )
Tastes-semisweet chocolate morsels; bourbon; burnt caramel; vanilla (not added); oak; more bourbon
Overall impression-world class (beeradvocate score 99; #50 imperial stout; #197 of their top 250)
Ymm, Beer rating-cat 3.9; in a league with Bourbon County Stout Original; never had Firestone Walker Parabola

Ten Fidy Barrel Aged-Oskar Blues Brewery

Probably not much different after aging for the first quarter of 2020. I'm going to hide the remaining 2 cans until this fall/winter.

    High quality stuff.

Oh, I omitted the IBU and ABV from the above. Silly me.

    IBU-probably 50
ABV-12.5%; you'll really feel this one after about half the can if you allow an hour to finish this bad boy.

Credit-a keen eye, the brewery's reputation and a prior review somewhere on Ymm, Beer by accfanfrom1970
Style-it's all the above plus imperialized and milked!~
Format-corked and caged 750 ml bottle, divided over 2 nights
Stemware-my first use of the 2019 Hardywood GBS Complete Set teku glass
Appearance-dark brown center, ruby edges, foamy tan head
Nose-booze soaked dark chocolate raspberry torte
    Mouthfeel-seductive; chewy
Tastes-dark chocolate, vanilla, raspberry jam, bourbon
Adjuncts-Madagascar vanilla, cacao beans, "late season" Virginia raspberries, lactose
    IBU-55
ABV-11.8%; definitely a share or two night beer
Overall impression-another Hardywood grand slam; the "original" raspberry stout and Raspberry Short Kate are really good; this enters another zip code
Ymm, Beer rating-mid to upper cat 3; I think this was about $14 for the large format; worth a search
Thanks. I have one from 2019 and one from 2020. Really a good one to share and a reason Hardywood is the one I joined as a member. They make a really good beer, then barrel age it and put it to another level.

But, you 'll have to wait until Saturday for the complete review, unless, of course, you're interested in a bit of crazietalk...

Zillacoah! My current biggest regret of the quarantine.

Well, the country has Mt. Rushmore, DBR has Mt. Hatemore, perhaps Ymm, Beer should have a Mt. Beermore.

I've found two top 100 lists on beeradvocatefor pilsners, Bohemian and German?

And yes, you may answer with a rhapsody of praise for either/both style/s.

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/top-styles/40/

    How many have you had?

I think I've tasted five from the list.

Men want to be him, women want to be with him.

    Beers fear him.

    Credit-fuse traders; thanks!!
    Format-pint can
Style-hazy IPA (you'll have to ask the coach why his DNP during davec's Virtual Pub IPA day)
Freshness data-no info but I'll bet <1 month old
    Glassware-standard pint glass
    Appearance-hazy pineapple yellow
    Nose-juicy!
    Mouthfeel-fruity
Tastes-peaches, mangos, pineapples and oranges, oh my!
    IBU-perhaps 40 something
ABV-7.3%; wait, this was an alcoholic beverage?
Overall impression-if you blindfolded me, I'd have thought Dole or Tropicana tropical/citrus juice cocktail
Ymm, Beer rating-solid cat 3; this is a very well executed hazy IPA; delighted to have a 2nd can
    From last PM:

Citra Mosaic Opacity-The Glass Jug Beer Lab

Equally enjoyable the 2nd time around. Wouldn't hesitate buying/receiving another from this brewery, especially if they continue their Opacity "series."

Thanks again to fuse for trading a couple!

Don’t believe we do, but I repeat my mantra: You can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning ...

That’s why I don’t get out of bed until after noon.

They call them “breakfast stouts” for a reason.

It'll be up to Gooch, our host for the day, to determine when the doors, err, keyboards are open, for those not totally familiar with the process, no names in particular being mentioned . I've already started with a doppelbock last PM and a bock tonight, both of which will be sequestered at another site and revealed sometime on Saturday. Kinda like stockpiling N95s, anti-malarial drugs and ventilators.

I think fuse is also waiting for the word from Gooch as to when he should set up Zoom for an hour or two during which a bunch of us might meet with our thirsts readied and our glasses filled.

Yep, you can always have a "warm-up" lager about 1100 and have that prepared for when the "open" sign is actually illuminated.
