Haw River Short Crust
Apple Oatmeal IPA
Smells of apple, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Tastes like a citrus fruity hoppy apple pie, in a VERY good way.
Again, a tip of the cap to devildeac! 🍻

When there is no dessert in the house and one doesn't feel like driving to the store/local ice cream shoppe because it's just too damn hot outside, liquid dessert will have to suffice/satisfy.

Last one from the beer fridge in the devildeac abode.

That looks better than seven-layer chocolate cake, Dr. D!
Raspberry Tart Shandy
One part Simply Lemonade, one part Raspberry Tart, mix, gulp (after an hour walk at 90 degrees), enjoy.
I did share about 4 ounces of the Raspberry Tart with Mrs. dd before my Shandy, saving the last 4 ounces of Raspberry Tart for myself after the Shandy.

Liquid Riot Tropical Storm
Sour Wheat with loads of tropical fruit
Another new to me Maine beer, courtesy of a recommendation at the Bier Cellar.
Super hazy, looks like watered down orange juice.
Smells like pineapple, mangoes, oranges, and maybe lime.
Tart, and fruity.
Another Del Monte fruit cup in a glass kind of beer.
Heavy on the pineapple.
A nice way to start of celebrating the 4th.
Cheers! 🍻
Battery Street Brewing Endless Ride
Blackberry Mandarin Orange Kettle Sour
3.9% ABV
Pours the colour of a blackberry smoothie- deep purple ruby red, completely opaque.
Thick pink head does not last.
Nose is absolutely indeterminate.
Thanks, allergies and clogged sinuses.
Loads and loads of blackberry to start, with a finishing mandarin orange kick.
You could likely pass this off as a very well done sour sangria.
I guess the Tropical Storm (wheat) could pass for white, and certainly this beer is red. Pretty sure all the blueberry beers in the fridge (save perhaps the bottle of Allagash Pick Your Own) are gone. Guess I should have planned better to do a red, white, and blue beer tasting.
Cheers! 🍻
Allagash Tiny House
A 3.4% ABV version of Allagash’s house beer.
Can description says melon, grapefruit, and malt.
Pours lemon yellow.
A brilliant grapefruit nose.
As much as I enjoy high ABV beer, I enjoy well done low ABV beer even better.
Tiny House would be an excellent all day sipper.
Really well constructed, fantastic mouthfeel.
Finishes a little sharply with grapefruit.
The power of suggestion being everything, there is a faint cantaloupe flavour at the start, followed by an bubbly bitterness ahead of the grapefruit finish.
I sure hope Allagash expands plans to bring can distribution to NC.
Cheers! 🍻
Fuse has turned into a one man wrecking crew today with new beer reports. I'll resume tasting/reporting again tomorrow once I'm off call duties.

Well you would expect the fuse to get lit on July 4.
I tried Grove by Brewery Bhavana - 8% ABV - 58 IBU - DIPA:
Of course, this is a good beer. It has a very nice, subtle mixture of grapefruit, peach, orange, papaya, and mango taste. It's citrusy, but for me it was too bitter and the bitterness didn't fade as much as I'd prefer. I'll rate it 4.0 and can't wait to try more beers from this brewery.
Happy Fourth!
Allagash River Trip
session Belgian style ale
Maybe the biggest beer of the day so far at 4.8% ABV.
Can says Belgian style table beer featuring melon, citrus, and stone fruit notes.
If we didn’t have such good beer locally, I might have to find a gig closer to Allagash.
Another beautiful lemon gold pour and dense head.
Nose is lemon and straw.
Another super mild stunner.
Surprisingly balanced and yet a challenging amount of bitterness.
Definitely melon on the finish, with a twist of lemon.
There is a biscuity dryness as a top note offsetting the hops.
I may like Tiny House better, not by any meaningful margin.
A grand day for trying new beer so far.
I’m in Spokane for the evening and am going to sink a pint of Black Butte porter. Happy 4th! TT
