If I was a Carolina fan, I would not enjoy reading that article.

Reading between the lines perhaps, but I don't detect much joy over their Carolina basketball experience, especially going forward. As they look at their own professional prospects, they may feel Hansbrough has had too much of the attention and too much of the offense.

Maybe they've changed the rules or I'm reading this wrong, but this:

"If I can't get a guaranteed contract in the second round, then I can come back to school," Green said.
appears to reflect a severe misunderstanding of the relevant rules.

I think he must mean if he can't get a guaranteed contract prior to June 16, though I'm not sure if teams do that.

On a related note, apparently Lawson has been greeted with something less than enthusiasm from UNC fans, according to this article. He's probably gone anyway, but this probably isn't helping things.

No telling with Danny Green, but I took that to mean that he is seeking verbal assurance (prior to the draft) that either he will be drafted in the first round or that a team picking in the second round (probably in the first 1/3 or so) would assure him that they would take him if available and offer him a guaranteed contract.

It's not a misunderstanding of the rules. The rules say that first-round picks HAVE to be guaranteed. However, they don't say that second-round picks CANNOT be guaranteed. Further, it says nothing about whether a team can make a "promise" to a player before the draft.

What I think Green is saying is that if a team will promise to draft him AND guarantee him money, he'll stay in the draft. If he can't get a guarantee, he may pull out of the draft.

Danny Green sounds like a great teammate. And he dances well, too.

That makes sense, but a promise of a guarantee is not a guarantee. It sounds like Green may be comfortable with either.

Maybe Green means that if he's told that if he's told he won't go until the second round and, therefore, cannot get a guaranteed contract, he will pull out of the draft and return to school. Why not just take your chances, Danny?

McBob was a 2nd round pick who got guaranteed money

Here's hoping they light it up at pre-draft camp.

This is just an unbelievable quote from Danny Green:

"I'm not in Tyler's situation," Green said. "He's breaking records, and he has money. I'm not broke-poor, but my family doesn't have as much as Tyler. He's more fortunate, and I'm trying to do what's best for my family."

Sounds like jealousy, and didn't I mention before that his father was released from prison this year.

If the NFL teams can bring up a red flag on McFadden for potential character issues due to the environment he grew up in,then NBA teams should as well.

Danny Green is seeming like he has the potential to get into trouble when he gets the NBA money.

Yeah all 2nd round picks are unguranteed, but usually picks 31-40 are typically 2 year gurantees with the team option being picked up.

    Don't do this.

Seriously. I think McFadden actually had several "incidents" (arrests, possibly), in addition to a large number of foreboding hangers-on.
