A pox on all your houses. I didn't need a new mattress until I started reading this thread.

c'mon, everyone's doing it. Don't get left out!

We're going to hit pause til my folks visit is over in 4 weeks (they come in 3). One of them is known to prefer plushness so much that we might want to look for "zero g" mattresses. As a consequence it seems that getting rid of our only soft 2P mattress before then would be foolish. But after they leave, well, we'll resume our search.

I know, I’m surprised this thread has legs!

Are water beds still a thing? I had one in elementary school. I’ve asked my parents why many times.

Maybe we can get a DBR bulk rate. Perhaps one of our players could do an NIL deal with a mattress company. I'm dating myself a bit but that would have been perfect for Sleepy Floyd.

    Any recent purchasers with recommendations

I think this is the most recent thread talking about mattresses.

I am in the market for a king mattress being that it is Memorial Day and sales are on. Any recent experiences? I am a hot sleeper, sleep on my stomach and prefer a firm mattress. I have done a few of those "what beds is best for you surveys" and some recommend Avacado Green, Purple, and then $5000 beds. Not sure I will be spending $5000 on a bed. But really looking to see if anyone has found a mattress that keeps them cool.

I went to a mattress store yesterday and tried a few, but you can never really tell about the cooling effectiveness in store. Leaning toward the Avocado Green- but of course I can't even try it before buying it (it is top rated on consumer reports). 1 store also has a king, firm Temper LuxeBreeze on clearance because it is last years model. it would be about $4500 after taxes, mattress only, no base.

    Thanks,
    -Terri

I like the Simmons Beautyrest Black Collection without the memory foam. I've always been concerned that the memory foam retains heat notwithstanding marketing that says the new ones don't. I'm old school, I prefer the pillowtop, but the Black collection has a memory foam top version if you prefer.

I am in the market for a new mattress. I recently began seeing a pain management specialist for back and neck pain and asked for a recommendation and she suggested Scott Jordan. I have not really looked into it much yet but I trust her judgement.

I've also heard good things about https://www.saatva.com/ but have not tried one.

The Original Mattress Factory makes a fantastic double-sided latex mattress that would fit your needs perfectly. Price isn't horrible, either.

I'm not sure personal recommendations are fruitful, it varies so much by person. You can go to a big mattress store and flop on a bunch of them. For some reason a friend sold us on the concept of Tempurpedic 20 years ago, and we still love that enormous thing...never have to turn it, and after 20 years it has no indentations whatsoever.

With respect to your neck pain, I now unfortunately have recent experience which might be of use. About six months ago, my neck began getting stiff and sore. After visiting my primary care physician, and also trying physical therapy for a few months, I finally got an MRI that revealed mild arthritis in my C5/C6 cervical facet joints. Basically, I have an old, creaky worn-out neck. It makes turning my head side-to-side pretty painful.

The rehab therapy specialist I saw after the MRI recommended getting a Royal Therapy Memory Foam Pillow which is available on Amazon for about $55. I have been very happy with it.

We bought a Casper Original about 3 years ago and it’s been amazing. No sagging at all and it feels like it did on day 1.

Consumer Reports does extensive ratings every so often, and I think they have different recommendations for side sleepers,, back sleepers, etc.

I got a saatva for my four year old (reversible one that has a different firmness so hoping that allows it to be used for more years). She hasn't complained at all about it. 😉 But seriously, I've laid on it too and it's pretty nice (hybrid). I may like the Casper hybrid my son has more though...

What mattress would you recommend if one of the sleepers prefers NC bbq and the other KY?

    Separate bedrooms. At a minimum.
