There was leftover cake sitting out when I got to the office. Nothing wrong with a piece of cake at 6am...right? Right???

Not according to my sister's high school home ec teacher. Telling her that chocolate cake was ok for breakfast did not go over well with my mother.

I ended up having brisket tacos, my Friday morning staple. I did purchase some strawberry frosted Pop Tarts for consumption over the holiday weekend.



Yes, that one is still on the table. Original factory color was if Fire Red and I will likely stick with it.

I think you've inspired me to smoke a brisket. Trying to decide if I should start it now for eating tomorrow, or wait until later in the weekend.

Yup, put it on about 2 1/2 hours ago. 14.4 pounds before trimming. Not sure if it will be lunch or dinner tomorrow. At 1 - 1.5 or so hours per pound, big variance.

Of course, given that you are in Texas, I gotta warn that BBQ pork butts are more comfortable for me. Brisket is less forgiving and still working on it. So, no promises.
