Speaking of prime:

Prime Prine.
If you are under 40 and don't have this, go get it.
If older and you don't have it, shame on you so go get it.
(Unless you have a good chunk of his catalogue, of course, and don't need a "best of" compilation).
A truly unique songwriter of our times.
“I do not think that word means what you think it means.”
I don't have it and I'm over 40. I'll pass.
Worth getting. An OPK 5-star album. Only $10 on Amazon.
Here is JP and Bonnie Raitt on one of his songs (although I do not think it is on Prime Prine):

And one of the first songs he ever wrote:

And on other very early song, maybe the saddest tune I know:

And with Emmylou on a tribute album:

Yeah, I'm a fan.

“I do not think that word means what you think it means.”
And to bring it full circle - the DBR legend, Doug Hinds, was a great friend of Emmylou's. We had a blast with her at his memorial. (The idea of a "blast" at a memorial is also very "Doug" - he once ordered a dozen pizzas for the ER on a bad night for him. Always wanted to grab life with both hands.)
My cousin was in awe at his memorial - she and Emmylou talked for hours; she had no idea their relationship was for real! (From personal knowledge, forget music, Emmylou is an awesome person)

I turned into a cranky old dude 20 years ago. I was 23.
You called:

[redacted] them and the horses they rode in on.
I've been gone for a week. Not as much to catch up on as I thought there would be. I posted a link to he mission trip blog on Facebook if anyone is interested in seeing what we did in Shiprock, NM.
Shiprock is a very arid area but the colors and textures are beautiful. Lots of fun rocks to climb and to hunt.
“I do not think that word means what you think it means.”
Not sure of the exact dates for rock hunting, but it was open season when we were there. Found some quartz and various other sizes. Glad we had gone through some of the food we took so that I could stick a couple of good sized rocks in the stow-n-go. I did my share to help the economy - bought jewelry, yarn, and a sand painting. Tried to buy most of the groceries on the reservation.
It is an area where I would try to find a business to start if I won the lottery and had a good idea of what business would employ the most people and become self sustaining.
Getting sick in the summer really sucks.![]()
I just discovered Drunk History. Where have I been?
“I do not think that word means what you think it means.”
Day 7 (and counting) of the summer cold.
And by summer cold I mean the vicious hella virus that has taken over my life temporarily. Today is the 2nd time in the 7 days that I left my apartment
