They found my car wrecked but they did catch the two dudes who stole it. It has about $3,500 worth of damage.

When I lived in Seattle my 1984 Honda Accord hatchback (about 30 years old at this point) was stolen from in front of our house on Thanksgiving morning. It was parked between a brand new Volvo and a brand new Volkswagen.

They found it about four days later. Out of gas, parked in a pay lot about five miles away.

Several years later they arrested some guy for stealing over a hundred early model Hondas, driving them til they ran out of gas, and then leaving them somewhere in a pay lot where they would be found.

People are weird.
