She is soooooooooooooooooo laid back, she'd leave the raccoon alone. Katie would walk by the coon and smack it, and Spencer would run and hide from the coon.

I do note, however, that we are now on page 129. The next prime number will be page 131.

Where do we go from here?

I thought Shammrog was moving this thread in the direction of prime. So, where does one get the best prime rib?

Likewise, we could ask where one gets the best pi?

First one - dunno. Lots of good local steak places in just about any major city. In Atlanta, try Stony River in Roswell. Mmmmm good!!!

As for pi. I like all kinds of pi. I really really like to eat pi!

    Stoney River is GREAT!!

    In NC, it's the Barn.

But I'll soon have to find one in Kentucky. Any thoughts out there?

I have had consistently good prime rib at J Alexanders in OP, KS.

I like to bake pi - but I cheat and use prepared crusts. I need someone to teach me how to make a good pi crust.

PS - I am now Shelden Williams - my father would point out he spells his name wrong.

When baking pi, the natural log makes great fuel. Or maybe i imagined that.

Number 3 son's nickname is T-Bone (among others). We're visiting with family this week. One uncle liked T-Bone so much he started calling number 4 son Ribeye. That's my comment on steaks.

Number 3 son was in NC for the 4th while the rest of us were in SC. He went to the Festival on the Eno where he was asked at the nature table if he could tell what kind of skull the woman had. He answered, some sort of small carnivore and a mammal. He's 8. No idea where he learned such things. He was right.

Hi all, I'm still away, this is one of the occasional check-ins. Thanks for trying to save post 2500 for me. I'm happy the honor went to billyb.

go off-line for a few days and look what happens!

That's what I get for not staying caught up. The thread grew by several pages! Let's see, where to start?

    1. Welcome back, BillyBreen!
    2. Lavabe, sending vibes for selling your house. How's that going?
    3. Back before my dad remodeled the kitchen in our house (back when I was in elementary school), I was washing dishes at the sink when a noise made me look up. There was a snake's tail dangling down from a hole in the ceiling. I made a hasty retreat until said snake disappeared.
    4. Love the bad math puns.
    5. My personal favorite way to make pie crust: use a food processor and whatever recipe you like. Combine the flour, salt, and fat (shortening, butter, lard, whatever) with the food processor to get a nice crumbly mixture. Slowly add water until the whole mess gloms up to form a big ball. Sometimes the resulting crust can end up a bit sticky; chilling in the fridge for about 30 minutes helps with that. With that being said, the Pillsbury pie crusts are pretty darn good. Great Value (Wal-Mart store brand) is just as good if not better.

I love the barn, and have favorites in Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Kansas City, D.C., and Roanoke, VA. Sorry, got nothing for Kentucky.

Since I'll be visiting Atlanta regularly, I need to learn about places to eat meat in Atlanta. Years ago I had a great steak at a place in Buckhead.

    Any good meateries near Emory?

While not a meatery, we already found the Mellow Mushroom, which is very popular with the kids for some reason. I think there's a Mellow Mushroom in Durham near the bulls stadium.

My wife wants a food processor and I'm looking for recommendations. We have a Kitchen Aid mixer and blender and love them both. Should we go the same route for a processor or does anyone have a better suggestion?

Mine is an Oster and it's okay. I'm not sure I'd buy the same one again, though. Several of the blades are in plastic housings (for lack of a better term) and they tend to crack. I don't know if anyone makes all the housings in metal, though.
