I nearly maimed myself retrieving my ailing cat from the roof on Monday.

My advice - check your roof. And be careful.

About 2 months ago, mother cat and two nearly all white kittens took up residence in my yard. I've seen them nearly every day since. So, I started putting food out for them. Eventually, I will trap them and get them fixed. Well, that was the plan. I went to a class presented by the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition and discussed potentially trapping them next week.

I usually see them twice a day when I put food out, in the morning and around 7 PM at night. I did have a close call a month ago when they crawled up into the engine bay of my car. Most days I check before I leave if I have not already seen them in my back yard. I forgot to yesterday. I did not see any of the cats yesterday morning which is odd, but did see mama last night. It was cool and rainy and very windy the night before.

A few years ago, our adopted feral cat got on our roof. I broke out the ladder and climbed up to retrieve her, but couldn’t find her once I got up there. Looked down, and she was in the yard staring up at me with a “what-the-heck is he doing up there” look. She was probably wondering if she needed to come rescue me.

Tell youse what though, Guy Pearce is starring in another remake of A Christmas Carol next week on FX (I think) and I am an unrepentant Christmas Carol fan. Love them all.
