Seems to me it's a misapplication of a chess term. People are making it sound like this movie is the grand finale, all-in, winner-take-all showdown. I always thought the endgame was the most boring, mechanical part of chess. The fun part has already happened.
If a player has an advantage, even a single pawn, he/she protects it and trades all the other pieces off the board to keep the pawn and preserve the win. The player who is behind resists and stalls to the extent possible, hoping the other player makes a mistake and gives back the advantage. If the sides are even, both players usually play it safe to salvage a draw and try again next game.
Doesn't seem like a very exciting finish for an Avengers movie...
I watched 3 movies this weekend. Do I get a medal?
Some critics argue that Ozymandias is really the natural end of the story, and that the few episodes that follow are generally post-script.
I don't adhere to that, but I understand it. Ozymandias is definitely the boiling point.
The series is worth watching for the acting and the storytelling IMO. Bryan Cranston is genius, and the whole cast really hits its stride in the third season on.
I need a boatload of good mojo. Please and thank you.
All thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Sometimes life throws curveballs. Sometimes it defies sports analogies.
I can use all the support I can get.
You got it Mt Dev!
Nothing incites bodily violence quicker than a Duke fan turning in your direction and saying 'scoreboard.'
Lifting a hand, and bowing a head in your direction Mt Devil.
Tankers of mojo headed your way, perhaps with our old friend the Captain of mojo hisself at the helm...
Sigh, 3 AM my time.
