Seems to me it's a misapplication of a chess term. People are making it sound like this movie is the grand finale, all-in, winner-take-all showdown. I always thought the endgame was the most boring, mechanical part of chess. The fun part has already happened.

If a player has an advantage, even a single pawn, he/she protects it and trades all the other pieces off the board to keep the pawn and preserve the win. The player who is behind resists and stalls to the extent possible, hoping the other player makes a mistake and gives back the advantage. If the sides are even, both players usually play it safe to salvage a draw and try again next game.

Doesn't seem like a very exciting finish for an Avengers movie...

Fun book but a difficult, and thus lousy, movie...

Depends which ones they were, obviously. There's probably an app that gives them out for movie watching though, I'd bet. (There is for beer at least).

I am sure it is wonderful, and many have recommended it to me. But that train seems to have left the station and it all sounds like a dark ages soap opera.

    Maybe I'll re-watch Breaking Bad.

(And no offense meant to those that love GoT -- it just never bit me I guess).
I tried 2 episodes of Breaking Bad and realized it was not for me. Then, at the end, because everyone talked about it so much, I watched the episode called "Ozymandias" and realized that's the only episode you ever need to watch. I got what the whole show was about.

Some critics argue that Ozymandias is really the natural end of the story, and that the few episodes that follow are generally post-script.

I don't adhere to that, but I understand it. Ozymandias is definitely the boiling point.

The series is worth watching for the acting and the storytelling IMO. Bryan Cranston is genius, and the whole cast really hits its stride in the third season on.

All thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Sometimes life throws curveballs. Sometimes it defies sports analogies.
