I dated a woman who was positively batty over he and Josh Groban. Fortunately, I didn't have to attend anything, but I've heard most of the songs.

We all have our moments of shame. I attended a Ryan Adams concert for a girl once.

    Ugh.

I had a budding romance going with a girl who was a huge Neil Diamond fan. I took her to his concert in the Charlotte Coliseum. Our tickets were unfortunately in the nosebleed section. On a whim, at an intermission, I walked her down to the front of the stage, hoping to be able to stay for a while when he returned. Amazingly, the security guards allowed us to stay, possibly thinking I was a professional photographer, with my expensive camera gear. Neil proceeded to launch into his hit “You Don’t Send Me Flowers”, motioned my girlfriend to the edge of the stage and presented her with a dozen roses as he kneeled to her and sang. I was busily snapping pictures. Very romantic, and put me in excellent standing with my girlfriend . . . Until I went to have the film developed, and made the mistake of opening the camera before rewinding the film. All pictures were ruined, along with a previously budding romance.

It will come as no surprise to those who’ve known me a while that I love the Christmas music. ALL the Christmas music, with only the barest few exceptions. I have no fewer than 5 Christmas playlists, comprising various selections of an overall Christmas catalog that totals something like 45 hours.

I’m in my Allman Brother phase right now. It might last like the rest of my life or so.

Funny ending to a nail-on-chalkboard story. Just the thought of Neil Diamond makes me queasy. Luckily, my wife concurs.

Dodged a bullet there. The forgot to rewind works in mysterious ways.
