I like black-eyed peas too and will have some soon after getting home. Today, I made grouper meuničre with roasted potatoes and broccoli.

You know it's a New Year's Day thing, right? To eat black-eyed peas for good luck? (Not everybody knows this, I have discovered in life. I've come to believe it's a Southern thing.)

Yes, likely a southern thing. Always with cornbread for us. My grandmother used to put a dime in the pot- supposed to be good fortune for the year for the person who got it (if they didn’t choke on it I guess!); kind of king cake-esque.

Yes, of course I know this. My mother is downright religious about this.

Absolutely! I'm already trying to decide what treats I'll buy for myself. And, oh sure, charity stuff and saving the planet.

Whew, I mean, I had made the assumption. I have been living among the sassenachs for so long and they give me funny looks about it.

And on New Year's Day, 2021, the LTE went to war over . . . black-eyed peas.

    All hope is gone.

My wife finally gave up and let me cut her hair, which has been growing since all this started. It was delightful...for me. For her, not so much.
