If you've never driven manual, Asheville is gonna teach you where the catch point on the clutch is pretty quickly.

Three of my nephews learned to drive in a VW Bus. They weren't allowed to drive by themselves until they could stop on Hayward's Hill and re-start without rolling back. Good skill to have.

Can anyone tell me what time it is? I seem to have misplaced my watch.

Come on matty! You can do this!

I remember teaching son and and daughter of weezie how to drive a stick. Much hilarity and shaming abuse was piled upon their delicate souls.

Shall I head down your way?

I learned to drive a clutch in the mountains of NC... Both the clutch and I survived.

    Barely.

If so, I can’t imagine why.

Sortarelated, Camper van Beethoven has one of my favorite lines — “take the hands off the clock, we’re gonna be here . . . a while”

Yes, because sometimes that clock tellsyou how much time is left in the game. That's why you have to watch until the end.

Hadn't heard CvB mentioned in 25+ years

Yep, the stick shift is not for me. Can't wait to get the title in the mail in a few weeks so I can get rid of it

It wasn't for me either but I was in a country with few to no auto trans cars. So, I had to get used to it...

I'm currently driving a manual. Well, not currently.
Currently, I'm typing on a keyboard while sitting at my desk.
But I drove to work in a manual transmission automobile.

It has been 10 years or so since I gave up my manual tranmission. I don't reach for the clutch very often now but I do still miss it.
