Honestly I would be a good target for them. It won't hurt at all and it won't chew up a ton of time.

Not that you would while in Vegas of course. Just a good fact to know.

My students and I just finished reading The Princess Bride and, as is proper, we are now watching the movie together.
Man, that one never gets old. It makes me misty every time. I think it's truly an American masterpiece, beyond just film. It's a work of art.

I had to memorize a classic poem in 7th grade and chose this one because it was fairly short. It is one of the half dozen or so poetry stanzas I can still recite, so I am always pleased when it comes up.

Though I never could figure out how somebody who couldn't spell tiger and chose to rhyme 'eye' with 'symmetry' could be considered a genius!

Indeed. Cover letters are revealing. There are many well educated (on paper) people who simply can’t write well, and for a number of jobs this poses a plethora of problems.

Good point. Perhaps I can find a way to go back and ask my 7th grade self why he insists on pronouncing the final syllable of 'symmetry' as 'tree' and not 'try'?
