Probably didn't explain myself well. Simply meant that the more unexpected tourney entrants there are, the less likely Duke is to fall in the seedings. Thursday night, I thought there was an outside chance, depending on how certain things panned out, that Duke could -- and I emphasize the "outside chance" qualifier -- drop as low as a 10 seed.
I don't think that's possible now, based largely on the fact that there will be a number of odd tourney teams. Utah State's victory over Nevada not only pushed out someone like Florida State, in all likelihood, but it also all but guaranteed Duke won't be seeded worse than No. 9, because of all the shuffling going on below that.
