    Who Stays and Who Goes

Sorry if this is too soon, but last year we started this thread on 3/18.

    Definitely gone:
    Flip

25 to 50% likely to return:
    McCain
Mitchell (transfer out), but would not mind if he stayed.

    Toss-up:
    Roach
    Proctor
    Reeves (pure speculation)

    Likely to return:
    Foster
    Stewart
    Power
    Schutt
    Blakes

If one of the toss-ups leave then that’s 13 scholarships, I believe. That’s also a pretty thin backcourt.

I'd put McCain at closer to 90%. And even that is I think pollyannaish.

Tonight didn't do him any favors, that's for sure.

    Definitely gone:

    Likely gone:
    Michell (transfer)
    Roach
    Blakes

    Likely back:
    Proctor
    Foster
    and everyone else

Anything less than the “likely back” and a portal miss at guard and we could be in for a bumpy ride for 24-25.

I'm not confident that if Proctor returns, Foster doesn't transfer.

    Hot'Lanta... home of the Falcons!
I mean, can we wait a day or two... please?

Also, I'm fairly sure every single post with predictions so far is overstating how many players will be back by at least 2.

    Do.The.Math.

Duke has 6 players coming in (1 may be injured) and we will not be carrying more than 10 players who expect to play. Stop looking at the 13 player scholarship limit. Duke won't have more than 10 guys who expect to play (and everyone who is a top 50 recruit expects to play).

Duke will be active in the portal too.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

Agree, only one will stay and I’m unsure which would be best for Duke. I expect Mark to move on with the incoming recruits and loss of PT. I believe Roach remaining could be huge.

In all reality the thread's been pretty active already in the Caleb Foster one.

Foster seems like a 3-4 yr player; his game never seemed close to NBA ready. I don't think a transfer would provide him with a faster track to the NBA.

That could be tricky. Each want to be the primary ball handler. Agree we may not have both. Man the guard situation is going to be such a roller coaster. It is certainly a major impact to what kind of potential next season’s team will have.

All of the sophs are leaving either for the draft or elsewhere. McCain is gone and have to think one of schutt or power transfers. That's 6 to include Young. Either we get Jeremy back or we'll need 2 guards in the portal. Wildcard is blakes who may also head out with Reeves. Mass exodus is and has been expected by everyone itk.

Judging by JEs comments, I'm not confident in anyone returning, as painful as that is to say.

Jeremy is a great competitor, but confidence in his outside shooting seems to be gone. Not sure what can be done.
Same with Proctor. His shooting at times is awful.

Duke's backcourt without McCain has little to contribute on the offensive perimeter. Duke will once again have two-three players contributing on offense and two or three there only to occupy the defense when playing good teams I'm afraid.

Jeremy has the best 3% on the team.

    Amending…
    Definitely gone:
    Young - no more eligibility

    Likely gone:
    Reeves

    So far that’s 7 players I don’t think we’ll see next season

Surely K2 and Harris don’t “expect to play” in year 1.

He built that over the first three months. He hasn't hit consistently from 3 for what seems like two months.

Flip is draftable. McCain might be. None of the other players are draftable
