2015 model .Newer ship though.it hit some stuff in Antwerp years ago.
I'm guessing ships are like cars.they are only as good as the maintenance and mechanic working on them.
No tugs escorting it is a concern of mine.all our vessels are escorted to the bridge .that may be normal there.
Hyundai marine is a amazing facility.
I was in awe of how large it was.

I'm also thinking we may need to inspect
And strengthen protection bumpers at all older bridges.especially with the size and wieght of the new post Panamax vessels. Very important to avoid a tragedy like this or worse.
It's expensive, but surely cheaper than a new bridge and lives lost.

In 2001, a similar event happened at South Padre Island. It took months to repair and was, and still is, the only bridge to SPI.

Stuff happens on ships sometimes. My first Navy ship lost power at night, and we went dead in the water for 10 minutes during a tropical storm (in the Bermuda Triangle no less). Mechanical failure not related to the storm. Took some serious rolls. High pucker factor.

Okay, I’ll stop with my sea stories. BTW, most sea stories start with “This is no bulls#*t …”.

I work in Norfolk and have been crossing a bridge twice a day for 24 years. The Milwaukee bridge situation was scarier than this, from my perspective. The bridge I cross is a drawbridge, so all traffic is stopped when ships go through.

And those theories are promoted by people that have lots of cameras on them with large audiences.

On Fox Business, anchor Maria Bartiromo falsely suggested that the “wide-open border” could have something to do with the collision, a clip of which circulated on X. No link to immigration has been made by officials.
Michael Flynn, who was national security adviser to former President Donald Trump, appeared to suggest it was not an accident in a post on X.

MTG even chipped in asking if it was a terrorist attack.
Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."

Maybe Ukraine had something to do with it? (Putin, probably).

Seriously, that's where we're at though.

Those are the tame ones. Strange how many "experts" Twitter et al. spits out when tragedy happens.

I've battled with a few of those people today.
Being in the position she is in .she really shouldn't fan the flames of that conspiracy.
Hopefully they can have a quick recovery so those families can find peace.
