The Commodores ain't holding nothing back. They're going after a Brick House after settling for a Stackhouse.

State fans now think we saved Keattsí butt from the fire. The ice will remain frozen for another year.

I think so, too. This mini-run they have had in the tournament this year has to be one of the high points of his coaching tenure at State, doesnít it ?

Stanford is done with Jared Haase. I would think Washington State's Kyle Smith would be a prime candidate to take over at the Farm.

Surprised. Thought he'd get another year, but reality is they weren't going to be much better, if at all, next year under him so better to not make the same mistake Louisville did with Payne.

There will obviously be tons of guys interested in this job. Michigan and Ohio State both canning their hoops coaches in the same year . . .

I didnít exactly slap my forehead in surprise. But I am relieved. As demonstrated in this post, I was running out of fresh slapstick material.

    You were saying?

I'm kidding. Honestly, it felt like tempting fate to pick against Kevin Keatts right before Duke played NC State, so I didn't. My heads-up anti-jinx didn't work, though.

With Keatts winning the 2024 ACC Tournament, his seat has gotten a lot more comfortable...

Very, very, comfortable. Here's what his win bought him, according to his contract.

-An automatic two-year contract extension. This means the contract is now scheduled to run for six more years, through April 15, 2030.

-An automatic $400,000 pay increase that begins next season and stays in place for the remainder of the contract.

-A $100,000 lump-sum bonus for the ACC tournament championship and an additional lump-sum of at least $10,000 for the team's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. (Itís $10,000 if the Wolfpack begin in the First Four or $25,000 if they win a First Four game or begin play in the round of 64. The payment will increase with each subsequent win in the event.)

Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."

Nice work by his agent. Hope they get a cut of the incremental income. By winning the ACC Tournament they got into the NCAA Tournament when they otherwise wouldn't have, so NC State is getting a nice immediate payoff that will cover some of the incremental cost.

Well, the ACC splits NCAA tournament revenue among its members so it's not like NC St gets to keep the extra money any more than anybody else except for the fact that it may have added one team to the pot to split.

Tomorrow is probably the last day you will be involuntary and encouraged coaching departures. I'm interested to see what happens with Miami and FSU. Both don't deserve to be fired and won't, but I can see both stepping down.

Huggins throwing his name in the ring for coaching vacancies. He loves working with young people, coaching and helping.

"I love working with young people. I was probably a freshman in high school, I was coaching other kids at that camp with my dad. I love to coach - I love to help people." Huggins said.

Huggy Bear is actual trying to cut in line. Iím pretty sure Gregg Marshall is up next up after Rick Pitino to rehab his image and resurrect his coaching career.

There was lots of talk about Scott Drew and Louisville. The Cards supposedly really pulled out all the stops and made him a great offer... but he announced today that he is staying at Baylor.

Pity. He would have elevated Louisville IMMEDIATELY.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

From the bottom of the barrel, that's not a seemingly tall ask.
