Duke Football. It's a malady passed from generation to generation. I'm second generation in my family. Seriously, I'm sure you miss him.

The other ACC game on Friday night is at Stanford. If they are both on ACCN, our game should be the earlier one.
I would expect 7 or even earlier.

I wonder how well that game will draw viewers. Not much competition on a Friday night, and there’s the national nerd appeal. Like Harvard/Yale but with P5 athletes.

Counterbalancing that, one team is forcing 5 turnovers a game while racking up 600 yards in total offense, inspiring its logarithmically-swelling fan base to creative requests for Sports Center guests since they’ve run out of likely celebs, while the other team is still trying to figure out vinegar-based barbecue. But there will always be gamblers watching to see if Duke can beat the 34 point spread.

    I like off seasons.

Grumble grumble grumble. (Not a Friday night fan, as you can see.)

I'm ok with Elon being on Friday, that's a holiday weekend (but still a work day).
Silver lining, it's NOT A THURSDAY!

I despise Friday night games. Two of six home games on Friday sucks.

Might be a good slot for student turnout

Duke's Fall Break begins Friday 10/11 and ends Wednesday 10/16, so the FSU Friday slot could bring a big student turnout after a short class week. Now, it we could have a bye week during Fall Break, it would be perfect. We'll know tomorrow night.

This is not carefully checked but I believe Duke and Wake are the only teams that have two home night games. Neither Clemson nor the Cheats have any weekday home games and Clemson plays all their games - home or away - on Saturday. The big boys have their prerogatives.

Depending on who is the home team between FSU and Georgia Tech in Ireland, it's possible Tech has given up two Saturday games. FSU is playing the Monday night of Labor Day weekend but that's a nationally featured game so I doubt they are complaining about that.

2024 schedule if you don't want to watch ACCN. No Thanksgiving home game! Bye before FSU and VT. UNC is last week in September.

I know some folks don't like weeknight games, but at least we avoided some turnout landmines: no home game during fall break and no home game during Thanksgiving.

Home against UNC on September 28. I know we played at Chapel Hill in Sept 2017 (the Bryon Fields pick six game) but I don't know if we've ever hosted them that early.

I don't mind ending the season against Wake, to give us something of a rivalry game to get up for. Like Duke has had to deal with most years, Wake will likely struggle with attendance on Thanksgiving weekend.

Somewhat disappointed Duke didn't do something cool with the schedule reveal. Last year's videos were great.

It looks like no home game during fall break. Can someone confirm.

Interesting that other than Northwestern maybe, the cheats are our first challenge. Hopefully we can work out the kinks by then and not show too many wrinkles in the first few games so we can surprise Mack in that game.

    Schedule sets up well

Looking at the schedule just released, I'm very fired up. Fall Break is an open date and allows max prep for FSU the next Friday at home. Also an extra day for prep against SMU after FSU. The second open date in Nov is before VPI comes into WW. Wake over Thanksgiving in WS is pretty ideal. UNC will be on our biggest weekend: Founders Day/Homecoming/Centennial Celebration.

About as good as we could have wanted.

It's a much better balance of home/away than last year. 2023 was so front loaded with home games.
