NIL. No more signed posters.
Well, my basketball playing son is finally wanting a Duke poster for his room.
I know that the team signs posters every year and takes orders, but I can’t for the life of me remember when or how to find out. Does anyone have any info?
Thanks!
NIL. No more signed posters.
This is my biggest disappointment with NIL.
I only got one poster (Kyrie’s year) and my dog who was obviously a UNC fan destroyed it (she’d never torn up anything before). It was painful.
I really wish it would have been possible to continue this with either the players keeping the money or donating it to a good cause. It was such a neat tradition and amazing for fans.
There was a team signed SLAM magazine and shirt? last year. Around $300.
The problem is that Duke sets up the photoshoot and prints them. The players would have to seek an alternate company to do the arrangements -- and figure out all the logistics themselves -- for an NIL poster to be kosher. And I'm not sure Duke athletics would allow it, with the "Duke" name being used for commercial purposes without their authorization (and they've been stingy with lawsuits in the past, see "the Duke" but maybe they'd allow it for NIL purposes? I don't think players can even wear Duke merchandise when they help sponsor an ad so likely can't do a poster that they sell through a third party. They can use THEIR name, but not the name "Duke"). So, it'd have all their names on the front and no "Duke" to be seen nor Duke jerseys/merch being worn. I guess it's possible.
Okay so let me ask, I can’t seem to find this years team poster… anyone have an idea of where this is being sold?
Thanks!
Does anyone have the link from last year to the Duke NIL merchandise? There were shirts, and I wonder if they're still available, along with the team magazine. Thanks.
I believe it's TheBrotherhood.live ...I haven't checked it out myself.
I don't think so. Duke wouldn't allow players to profit off of the Duke brand -- they have to profit often their own name/image/likeness.
Yes, they could do the second thing if organized on their own time/dime and not using university-provided materials.
They just showed this year’s poster on the Cameron video board. Guess it was late getting here.
The Duke Store sent out an e-mail message this evening announcing that the team poster is now available.
