Todd Pelino appreciation

In 2023 , Duke Football has provided many standout moments.
For me , the inspired effort of Todd Pelino has been special indeed.

Todd was unranked in HS-from a small group private school in western North Carolina.
He “ enrolled “at Duke and joined the football team. Hardly a ripple from the sports media.
Duke fans already had a high level of confidence ,owing to Charlie Ham ,a 3Star from Atlanta.
In 2022 Ham had some memorable misses (a FG and PAT v UNC) and Then was reported as experiencing “personal problems .”
Pelino stepped up ,seized the moment ,and gave us an impressive performance-23/23 PAT’s ; 8/9 FG’s.

On to 2023 with Pelino as a starter AND on scholarship.

Was there a Duke fan anywhere who didn’t react harshly to his missed ND FG’s ?

But now :
5 consecutive FGs;
23 straight PATs;
A game winner;
A game extending FG in the first UNC OT;
A personal best .

Well done Todd Pelino !

I sure hope this isn't a jinx! The struggles of our kicking game was a real damper on our team in recent years. Very happy to see more success.

While I never had Todd in my class, I do teach at the private school that he graduated from. We are all extremely proud of him!
