Drowned in his own jacuzzi. How awful!

I know he battled demons from alcoholism for many years but he really seemed to have gotten over it.

Huge loss. I'm gonna go binge a few dozen Friends episodes and then watch some of the criminally underappreciated Studio 60 as dessert.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

Very sad - he was an incredibly talented actor with a lot going on off the screen. Friends came out while I was at Duke and was appointment viewing for all of us - we would often wait until after Friends to go out on Thursdays.

I loved Studio 60 - so sorry it didn't make it.

Very sad about his untimely passing. I’m thinking it probably was cardiac issues.

I too loved Studio 60 n never understood why it didn’t get more then 1 season.

I never watched Friends. He had a great part on The Good Wife, though, which is one of my all-time favorite tv shows.

Shame for anybody to go that young.

His comedic timing was brilliant. Absolutely nailed the “guy using humor as a defense mechanism” persona. RIP.

The Good Wife is an underappreciated show. But not as underappreciated as The Good Fight, which somehow was never in CBS, only on Paramount+, also known as "the least user-friendly interface for streaming" of the last five years.

Perhaps a heart attack. It's been known to happen. Or worse.

Heat and alcohol can cause you to pass out in hot tubs/jacuzzis - wouldn’t be first death due to this combo. RIP Matthew.
