Elko's weekly radio show streams live from the Duke Football Facebook page from 7:00-8:00 (ET), tune in! I assume it is also on the radio somewhere.

One of my favorite podcasts this time of the year, the Gramlich and Mac Lain podcast discusses Duke football with Riley Leonard and DeWayne Carter. Great faces to be the front and center of Duke football, they never disappoint.
Give a listen.

College Gameday has arrived! Truck on campus offloading equipment.
This weekends ND game...
I have a feeling people are going to be mad at us.
We are putting a lot of people in the position of deciding who they hate more... The Irish or Duke.
I think people who would normally NEVER consider cheering for Duke, EVER.. will ultimately root for the Devils on Sat.
And they will hate us that. Who knows maybe they will like it. :-)
I hope we keep this thing rolling.
Watched CBS sports channel last night as they featured top football games this weekend. Neat that Duke is even discussed on this show and all the commentators seemed impressed with Elko and our start. However, the consensus among the group - the game will not be close and expect ND to win by 2 TDs or more.
Getting major FOMO from not being able be at Duke campus this weekend.
GoDuke.com posted a GameDay map. Not right at the Chapel, but will have a great view.

Some notes:
Duke:
- Elko said on Monday that Myles Jones should be good to go after missing the UConn game. We definitely need his size and physicality in this one.
- The Athletic is tracking something called Stop Rate, which is the percentage of defensive possessions that end in a stop. Duke is #2 in all of FBS with a 88.6% stop rate. This is quite a testament to Elko's bend-but-don't-break philosophy. That said, this philosophy is going to be tested, as Notre Dame has an elite QB/RB combo that is plenty capable of finishing drives. https://theathletic.com/4900437/2023...5&redirected=1
- Saturday marks the first matchup of top 25 teams at Wallace Wade since Duke beat Virginia in 1994. It's the first matchup of top 20 teams since 1960. That was a win over #4 Navy. It's the first ranked-on-ranked game of any sort for Duke since the 2013 Peach Bowl.
Notre Dame:
- Last year Elko went 3-0 against fellow 1st year head coaches. This will be a battle of second year men. Marcus Freeman is just 37 and has made a quick rise. In a span of two years, he went from DC at Cincinnati to head coach at Notre Dame. The early results for Freeman look promising, although he certainly has to own that substitution error at the end of the Ohio State game.
- Against Clemson, arguably the biggest challenge was matching up to the Tigers' defensive line. This week, the big challenge might be matching up to Notre Dame's offensive line. They have a returning All-American at LT in Joe Alt. This unit has paved the way for a nice running game, while allowing just 4 sacks on the year (interestingly, they all came against NC State). Ohio State was only able to make 2 tackles for loss and no sacks against the Irish.
- Of course, much of the talk will be about Sam Hartman and running back Audric Estime. They are really good. I imagine Duke will try to contain Estime the way they tried to limit Shipley and Mafah from Clemson. The difference, of course, is that ND has a much more proven QB in Hartman. I worry that he's exactly the kind of QB that is well-equipped to break down the Duke defense. He may not have the biggest arm, but he's accurate and willing to work us down the field at 10 yards a pop.
- If there's a weaker spot on the Irish offense, it might be the receivers. Hartman has been really effective spreading the ball around - in fact, he's thrown TD passes to 10 different players already. However, there don't appear to be stars but rather a solid, deep corps. This unit feasted on lesser opponents but seemed to struggle a bit against Ohio State. What worries me is that ND has a couple of big pass catching tight ends that could be a matchup problem for Duke.
- Defensively, they look solid without any obvious weakness. Ohio State and NC State were both able to throw for 240+ against them (State did so on a large number of attempts and with 3 INT, for what that's worth). Nobody has run the ball all that well on them.
Ultimate takeaway: this is going to be a very tough game to win. I just don't see how we hold their offense down. I think to win, our offense has got to be great. Last year, we beat Hartman not by stopping him so much as by beating his defense. Riley was great that night, and it was one of the the best games I've ever seen from a Duke receiving corps. Through 4 games, Duke's receivers have been fine, but not great in my estimation. Can we find a way to make some big plays? It may have to come down to turnovers like it did against Clemson, or possibly special teams.

Welp, no need to even go now, unless you just want a fun tailgate experience. Duke wins.
According to our computer model, the Duke Blue Devils will beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish when they square off at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday, September 30 (at 7:30 PM ET). We have more projections, regarding the point spread, total and final score, available below.https://athlonsports.com/betting/not...ets-predictionFighting Irish vs. Blue Devils Picks & Predictions
Pick ATS: Duke)
Pick OU: Under (52)
Prediction: Duke 25, Notre Dame 23
I don't know if I expect a 2 point game, and I know I don't expect a Duke victory, but if it's that close at under 2 minutes, just make sure that there's a defibrillator on hand in the stands close by.
Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."
