If Duke misses out on Udeh, do they still actively look for a 5

Any of you seen Foster play this spring? Or can you dig up any commentary on his play this season?

If Ernest Udeh doesn’t happen because of admissions issues, does Scott get burnt at the stake for jinxing things or can we forgive him this trespass?

How many players will average at least 10 minutes per game Duke plays this season? (i.e. counting DNPs as 0)

What can the ACC in general, and Duke specifically, do to improve their seeding in the NCAA tournament (and number of bids)? Be creative.

For example, last year Miami and Duke received 5 seeds despite having only 7 and 8 losses respectively. Baylor (10 losses, 3 seed), Kansas St (9 losses, 3 seed), Xavier (9 losses, 3 seed), Tennessee (10 losses, 4 seed), and Indiana (11 losses, 4 seed) all received better seeds despite having more losses than Duke and UVA.

The podcast group will know this more thoroughly, but seedlings aren’t based on overall record but by overall metrics.

The ACC gets better seedlings by winning its games before January. Lose a lot of games, especially against non-top 25 teams, and the rest of the season doesn’t allow the conference enough quality opportunities to recover.

Piggybacking on this one, if Duke does not secure a transfer 5, how will we fill the minutes and allocate the defensive responsibilities that a player like Udeh would have handled?

Next year's team is going to be historically deep with a large number of folks that will probably deserve playing time. What other teams (other than Kentucky) have had this kind of depth, and how did they structure their substitution patterns to successfully take advantage of that depth. Or in other words, how should Duke utilize this asset to the fullest?

How possible is it to eventually graduate from Duke if someone goes pro after 2 solid years of classes? Covid zoom classes were probably very helpful for guys like Boozer and Avery, but I imagine those classes have largely vanished. Ie, is it possible to cobble together enough summer in-person classes and zoom classes somewhere, or would Duke mandate more in-person experiences, especially for upper level classes.

Asking for a very tall friend who might like to eventually be an NBA GM or the Duke HC, but is likely to be a lottery pick in 2024.

For better or worse, the ACC is subject to the vagaries of the quadrant system. I have some thoughts about how the ACC could potentially game the quadrant system, but I am curious to hear if the podcast folks have any other ideas.

    lineups question

Duke played two bigs a lot last year and looks like they will again this year. Last year was more due to a deep frontcourt; Next year would be by choice.

    • Is Scheyer going to be more like K in playing his best 5 a lot of minutes?
    • Or maybe play bigger lineups to control the boards?
    • Or switch things up based on matchups?
    • Too early to know?

I love this but we already recorded the mailbag ep. Please submit this again when we do another one (likely in a couple months).
