The link at the top of the thread is very informative and addictive. About every 30 minutes I check to see the scores.

Currently in 4th,, need a late push.
Need a late push if we want to be atop the standings (which we should always strive for). But, if it's just to make the top 5, we're in an okay spot at T-3, leading 6th place UCF by 7. While we're even for the day, UCF is +4. Still a lot of golf to play though, so can't be complacent.

Duke is playing well, -2 for the day, but is now playing the back nine where they had trouble yesterday. Duke is +10 for the tourney, 8 shots within the top 5. LSU is in 6th at +18.

Duke has definitely done a good job over the first 10+ holes to put itself in a great position. Another thing to follow is that Andie Smith has moved up to one shot back in the individual race, she is -4 for the round and now -2 overall. Duke is currently in 3rd, 6 shots ahead of 6th place.

It would be great to make the NCAA Tournament after disappointingly missing out last year, with Gina Kim’s surprising spring semester departure from the team being a key factor.

    Let’s go, Duke women!

Quibble with some of this thread's posts:

All Duke athletes, irrespective of gender, are Blue Devils. Official university style guides state this, and make no provision or designation of any team of female athletes as the "Lady Devils."
This is something that some people in Athletics are actually pretty serious about; they certainly drilled it into our heads in the Chronicle sports department back in the early aughts.

Back to your other quibbles about who should Google what.

Not going to jinx anything but if you're interested take a look at the individual scoring for one of our ladies today.

We're leaking some oil coming down the home stretch. The ten-shot cushion we had over the cut line is down to five shots.

Cumulatively 13 holes left to play.

At least we have the legendary Dan Brooks as head coach. He stays cool and calm under fire. He never puts undue pressure on the Duke women during a match.

I’ve literally walked the course with him at tournaments and witnessed up close how he deals with various situations. Yes, he’s intense, focused, and in the moment, but he does not allow his personal intensity and temporary anxious moments to be felt by his team.

He is mostly hands-off during a match and largely lets the Duke women figure things out on their own — and grow stronger and more self-reliant from it — because he has trained them so well during daily practice sessions throughout the year. He does not take days off, even during long stretches where there are no matches. He is always prepared and 100% focused. And his teams reflect this.

I was a few years ahead of you there so blame me.

Duke is it. Blue Devils are they. Tar Heels is two words. Wojo is Wojciechowski. I remember all of this so clearly yet can’t tell you what I had for lunch yesterday…

Four shots ahead of the cut line with, cumulatively, three holes to play. Three golfers have finished, two remain on the course.

Great job by the women to qualify for the championship!

Duke finished at +11, which is good for second overall (3 behind MSU) and will advance to the next round.

After I posted about not wanting to jinx anyone, Andie Smith who had the outright lead went from -6 (on the day) to -2 in the span of 4 holes. 2 bogeys and a double. Sorry Andie! She finished 4th overall at -1 for the tounament.

And needing only a triple-bogey or better on 18 to punch Duke's ticket, she birdied to lock the ladies in 2nd place for the regional! Solid job on the last few holes!

Andie, a freshman from Hobe Sound, FL, seems to have something against nice safe par golf -- she ended up with *9* birdies, 2 bogeys, 2 double-bogeys, and 5 pars for a round of 3-under.

This has not been the highly ranked powerhouse team that Duke has often produced, so it's great to see them coming together in the NCAA Tournament.

    Not shabby!

Interesting to look at the other regionals and the scores. Clearly, there is VASTLY different course difficulty/pars established as I don't think the team quality is THAT disparate region to region...

Looking at the top 10 teams from each region (getting rid of last two as there are some MAJOR outliers)

Palm Beach (where Duke was): Ranged from +8 to +38
San Antonio: Ranged from +9 to +48
Westfield: Ranged from -19 to +9
Athens: Ranged from -13 to +36 (quite a spread!!). Georgia and South Carolina DOMINATED being -13/-11, while third place was +14.
Pullman: Ranged from -49 to +3 (what kinda course is this?!). The team coming in 8th finished 7 under par...
Raleigh: Ranged from -5 to +37

Wait….. Georgia did well in Athens?? That’s a shocker! 😮
