I’m going to make sure my casino friends in Vegas get a heads-up, Z! In fact, I’m staying at The Bellagio on April 27, 28, 29; I’ll let them know about you while I’m there.
BTW, I’m looking forward to seeing The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil, David Copperfield, and Blue Man Group. And lots of GREAT food and drink. Can’t wait.
My gosh Vegas has changed, though. I remember in the 90’s staying almost for free at Circus Circus, and being super excited about their cheap all-you-can-eat buffet. And the .25 soft-serve cones that several establishments offered were a big hit with me and my GF. Seems like a lifetime ago. 😢
Right now Draymond's season is bookended by a punch that rocked Poole and a stomp that rocked Sabonis. He probably hasn't made many new fans this season. Taunting the Kings' crowd by placing his hand to his ear just before being ejected probably didn't improve his standing amongst detractors. I really appreciate him as a player, I just wish he had more self control.
I watched this and Sabonis grabbed his leg. As Green was trying to pull his leg out- he ended up getting the foot on top of Sabonis and just naturally pushed off from that spot- and his body then reacted by jumping off Sabonis. I guess he could have elected to fall down but this did not seem like an intentional foul given what Sabonis did- who also received a foul. If anything Green seems to attract this situation more than most players- given his aggressive style of play.
Yeah, Draymond gets absolutely zero benefit of the doubt here. His body of work is extensive.
You can watch from one angle where it looks like a full-blown heavy stomp with malice. From other camera shots it seems more explicable.
But he's absolutely getting suspended for that.
This is a bit in between. People here hate Green. I think it's cute. He has 4 rings. But apparently "he can't stop screwing up".
As I was watching that game (and game 1), it reminded me so much of the UT/Duke football game, I mean basketball game. I even backed up the video and told my wife..."watch this replay, don't watch the ball, watch Steph". Curry was grabbed, bumped, etc all over the court. It was just a matter of time before something like the Sabonis/Green thing happened. Two games of escalation. Sure Green was wrong to overreact to Sabonis grabbing his leg (again) but the bottom line is that the refs caused this by allowing the physicality to escalate.
He didn't cost his team a championship, the NBA gave it to their golden boy, Lebron. Additionally, Harry Skype went something like 0-10 in that game sinking the Warriors (who got rid of him). Green reminds me so much of John McEnroe, he feeds off the chaos that distracts others. I wish he'd tone it down, however, because he's a brilliant player.
Perhaps one or two people here “hate” Green, but most just think that his obvious flaws now outweigh what he brings to the table.
Green was an important role player on a dynasty. He most certainly hurt his team’s chances in the series they lost to the Cavs, but helped in other circumstances.
He is past his prime and to impartial observers it is time for the Warriors to move on.
Green is a turd - but Sabonis absolutely grabbed his leg.
I don't hate Green. But I do hate his attitude and borderline dirty play from time to time. He gets absolutely no benefit of the doubt at this point. He should be suspended. Of course had the golden boy Warriors' organization done the right thing he'd have been riding the pine at the beginning of the season as well after cold-cocking his teammate Poole.
Leave my Lou Costellos out of this.
Real talk tho - I hear some folks calling for the league to ignore this most recent Draymond activity, and I hear others basically asking for him to hung in the public square.
Personally, as an isolated incident, I see how you could excuse it or at least find rationalization for it. But, nothing happens in a vacuum.
Here's my attempt at a hot take:
- If the league suspends Green for a game, the Warriors lose the series.
- If the league doesn't suspend Green AND the Warriors win, there will be at least one more Draymond incident in these playoffs that is all over sports media the next morning.
