I thought it was time to make a more definitive list of Duke people who are part of these 16 teams. I've covered the players and coaches, but I wouldn't be surprised if I were missing a few other names. Not every team has a media guide posted online, and even then, not every name in the organization lists a college affiliation.

    ATLANTA HAWKS

    AJ Griffin, Player
    Grant Hill, Co-Owner
    Jalen Johnson, Player
    Quin Snyder, Head Coach

Let me go ahead and anticipate your response so you don't have to do this...

"Jalen Johnson? Who? I don't care if he's in the image above. He quit on his team and I don't consider him part of the Brotherhood, even though Coach K and all the players do. I've been a fan before those players were born, and before Coach K set foot in Durham! I bleed Duke blue! I made it through the lean years! I went to Cameron before it was even called Cameron! I was there! Freddy Lind!"

    BOSTON CELTICS

    Joe Pagliuca, Board of Directors
    Steve Pagliuca, Co-Owner
    Jayson Tatum, Player

    BROOKLYN NETS

    Seth Curry, Player

    CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

    David Henderson, Scout
    Antonio Lang, Assistant Coach

    GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

    LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

    Luke Kennard, Player
    Zach Kleiman, GM (Duke Law)
    David McClure, Assistant Coach

    MIAMI HEAT

This is fantastic. And thank you for preemptively circumventing the Jalen Johnson conversation. I may have made a snarky comment, but won't in light of your comprehensive great list.

Duke fans are so fortunate right now.

By the way, Steven, do you see why didn’t want Boston to be playing Miami? Atlanta was such a better match up.
Yeah, it seems Miami > Atlanta.

I’m already pretty well convinced after one game.

This might be the very first time that Tyler Herro’s status was mentioned before that of Giannis Antetokounmpo! 😉

Add me to the list that won’t give you, or anyone else, any more grief about Mr Johnson. Many of us have made our feelings known but there’s no use in beating a dead horse. Plus you took a great shot at the Lakers.

Duke is very well represented in the NBA playoffs this year!

I’ve gotta say that if Antetokounmpo‘s injury is serious, then Boston might have a pretty good shot at winning the East. I hope he’s okay, though.

I love watching him play; he’s the best basketball player in the world.

I agree. If he’s out for any length of time it really does give Boston the advantage in the East. But I don’t want to count any chickens before they hatch. Boston, should they get past Atlanta, will almost assuredly have to play a very hot Sixers team right now.

After the Kawhi offensive heroics, Russell Westbrook’s effort and defense down the stretch was incredible.

Plumlee with really solid 4th quarter minutes.

Holy cow, the Clippers just beat the Suns on the road, and they did it without Paul George. What is going on with these playoffs?

It’s absolutely incredible to see all these road teams winning Game 1’s.

Durant hasn't won anything without the Warriors. Lets see what he does.

Wanted to know what this involves...found this from a couple of years ago -

"Shane Battier has left his full time job heading up the Heat’s basketball development and analytics department but will do consulting work for the organization, according to a league source. Battier, 42, initially joined the Heat’s front office on Feb. 16, 2017 as the director of basketball development and analytics and just completed his fourth season as the organization’s vice president of basketball development and analytics. His responsibilities included the development of analytics to evaluate talent, including college prospects, free agents and current Heat players."

Not totally clear from Web search. He became an operating advisor last Sept. to Arctos, which advises major professional sports franchises. He apparently serves on boards of start-ups, as well as continuing to advise the Heat

There's a lot of history of team's winning Game 1 of a series then disappearing. But with the total parity in the league this season, it kinda feels like some weirdness should play out and produce upsets.

I will be curious if Phoenix can make adjustments to feature Booker and Durant more, and take the car keys away from Chris Paul. Also, the TNT guys picked the Clippers which was surprising to me.

When DeAndre Ayton is getting more shots in 33 minutes than Kevin Durant is getting in 45, that is evidence to me that these guys don't know how to play with each other yet, and Coach Williams has some real work to do. Right now.

So you’re telling me there’s a chance — like Jim Carrey said in Dumb and Dumber — that the Lakers are going to lose to Memphis? Fingers crossed. 🤞
