IL’s Terry Foy explains why he thinks Duke is the top team right now.

Duke is really being punished for 1 bad half against Jacksonville in that analysis, and OSU is being given way too much credit as a quality win. (Denver just beat them by 5.) The biggest problem I see is playing 4 full quarters as this team tends to let up for stretches--even with the oddball pipes and officiating considered. You can't do that against ND and UVA.
Tiffany is 1-5 v. Duke since 2017. There was some rebuilding to do at the start of his tenure, and I wish Santa Claus was as generous with me as he was with UVA every week of the 2019 tournament.
Duke is #1 in the RPI right now. The next 3 weeks will tell us a lot. You would not expect Duke to go better than 1-2 in that stretch with 2 road games.

Thanks. Here's a good quote:
"I picked Duke because, right now, I’d have Jake Naso as my first-team All-American face-off guy. Goalie William Helm continues to mesh with the rest of the defense, and Wilson Stephenson and Kenny Brower are playing at a really high level. But I think the biggest thing is the way the offense is playing together. I’ve written for 2.5 seasons about the struggles of balancing a quarterback role alongside lefties Brennan O’Neill and Dyson Williams, and over the last month, I’ve written about how I think Andrew McAdorey’s move to attack has finally solidified that situation. And I think that is most clearly illustrated in the production of midfielders Owen Caputo, Garrett Leadmon, Charles Balsamo and Aidan Danenza."
We will find out tomorrow.

Looks like rain in Charlottesville starting right around 5pm.
Duke with the early 2-0 lead.
3-2 Duke after Q1. Very sloppy, footing and otherwise.
Duke up, 3-2, after one. Wet surface having an impact; lots of players slipping. Shellenberger a non-factor so far.
Got to 7-2 Duke and is now 8-5 with 5 to go in Q2.
8-6 at the half. Time for a change of shoes.
Duke’s D has taken Virginia out of its base offense. Shellenberger is mostly invisible. They’ve imptov’ed their way to six goals.
Duke mixing up the mids: Owen on the first unit, Balsamo on the second, with Mitchell in place of Pappendick.
#34 is pretty good!
3-0 run for Duke makes it 12-8 midway through Q3.
Brennan O'Neill is a generational talent.
15-11 after three. Duke finally makes Virginia pay for the ten-man ride, Gray finding Frisoli.
