New Mexico St Student-athlete Shot, then Shoots Shooter, Assailants flee

ESPN is reporting that a NMSU basketball player was "lured" to campus by several people, there was a confrontation. And then the player was shot in the leg. And then the player shot and killed one of the assailants. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...fatal-shooting
It's all very upsetting, and is just another example of gun violence in the US, in a week with several even more horrible mass shooting events. For those counting, there have now been over 600 mass shooting events in the US this year, almost 2 per day.
NMSU students are not supposed to have guns on campus or at university events, and the player was apparently violating curfew, yet he took a gun with him to meet (at least one of) those people. Apparently the other people in the confrontation all fled the scene, but at least one female (17) was later arrested.
So many questions come to mind, luring, curfew, guns, confrontation, getting shot, shooting and killing, underage girls...
    WTF?!?!?!?!

Just to make sure there’s no confusion, this ^ horrible event occurred last week, early hours of Sat morn, Nov. 19. I’m not downplaying DIB’s outrage, which is fully justified.
