Agree about the caffeine thing and I really admire your commitment to being demonstrably and profoundly wrong, but to share it with the group. This is a safe space for you.

No question on the dog whistle thing... between the 88, the 14, and then the Pepe... guy is clearly courting neo-nazis and white supremacists. And it is very unnerving.

And that bedside table shot... clearly meant to be all GUNS GUNS GUNS, and bring in some 2A fanatics... and the dope literally posted a photo of two props. Who does that? Surely he owns some ACTUAL firearms he could have used for that purpose, no?

Elon seems to be a nutjob... like, a real 4chan incel sort of weirdo.

As I understand them, the goal is to make them so regular people can't hear them, like a dog whistle. So if everyone knows that something is a dog whistle, it's not longer a dog whistle, but just a plain ol' whistle.

It's kinda like 9F. Everyone on DBR knows what it means...but if I posted it in a regular college basketball forum, no one except other DBR regulars would understand it's meaning. If everyone knew what 9F meant, the world would be a better place but it would also no longer be a DBR dog whistle.
Understood. But what is your point in the context of the conversation? That Musk is or is not courting Nazis?

Me, I don't think 95%+ of the population know what 88 (or 9F) mean. So the original poster is correct.

Late to this post but, it’s funny you mentioned this. I had a reservation for a Ford F-150 Lightning, which I later canceled when the trim package I wanted was no longer available. A buddy of mine good-naturedly harassed me for wanting to order “Joe Biden’s pickup.” Unfortunately brands are increasingly viewed as political statements. The car itself had become the bumper sticker.

He has a '67 Corvette owned since new. Has your buddy given up his "Joe Biden 'vette"?

My only point is that the bumper stickers are convenient until they aren't.

    Covid

Beginning six days ago, Twitter is no longer enforcing its policy on misleading information about Covid.

Twitter is certainly turning into a fever swamp of bad, bad things.

Madison Avenue has noticed. There is not enough alternate revenue out there to offset lost ad revenue. Though we will never find that out as no we will never see audited disclosure.

I thought “Joe Biden’s pickup” was an Amtrak.

Don't know what Europe's contribution to Twitter ad revenue is but I doubt they can take many more blows. From what I've read, ad revenue is already down across EMEA...

“Twitter will have to implement transparent user policies, significantly reinforce content moderation and protect freedom of speech, tackle disinformation with resolve, and limit targeted advertising,” Breton said in a statement. “All of this requires sufficient AI and human resources, both in volumes and skills. I look forward to progress in all these areas and we will come to assess Twitter’s readiness on site.”
